When he was loaned at the beginning of the season Pompey mainly played a 4-4-2 variation under Danny Cowley until he was sacked at the start of January.
Their new manager Mousinho plays 4-3-3 /4-2-3-1.
Warning signs were there pretty much straight away with the new manager that Scarlett wouldn't naturally fit the new system after he was an unused sub for the first 2 games (up until then he had featured in every game).
The club had the option to recall and loan elsewhere in Jan but chose to keep him there. You would hope they got some clarification from Pompey over his playing time but who knows with this club!
I think he needs a sort of target forward alongside him to get the best of out him and hold up the ball while he focuses on making runs in behind. Crouch-Defoe type front 2.
Certainly not giving up hope on him after his first loan at 18 but does need to go back on loan again.

Scarlett's goal for England u20s
From the way he is playing, if he trains on he will be more like Shearer than Kane. He is bullying centre backs out there.
We have Donley in the U18s who have modeled his game more on Kane. So Dane developing into a different type of striker is only good since it would give us more versatility if both develop according to plan.

He is doing nicely pretty much where he should be. He is going to be closer to EPL than Parrott. Sneaky feeling he's the real deal
