yea and 9 in 38 the whole season, and 7 in 38 the year before that. considering thats all he really does bring is the odd goal here and there and a poncy nutmeg that does nothing on the halfway line. its not really great is it. 16 goals in 76 games last two full seasons. 22 in 50 in 16-17...what do you put his decline down to then?

you watched grealish play? he gets on top of the game and makes his team get on top of the game, he doesnt do a little poncy flick here and there for the cameras.

People used to dismiss Defoe as someone who only scored against weak teams. Then he went and funny enough, we struggled to score against weak teams.
but when you have a player that just provides the odd goal here or there, the sides weaker in the rest of the game because thats all hes there to offer.
its like playing with 10 men but every now and then having a +1 handicap... would rather a stronger mre robust side wouldnt you?
yea thats how i remember defoe to be fair, that coupled with him scoring multiple goals in games he scored. you can only get 3 points a game. thats what makes a striker truly world class imo. how many games you score in is far more important than total number of goals
