Bellingham on for Ward-Prowse (he's done alright), Grealish where Mount is and Mount off for Bowen. Let'sgo and win the second half ffs.

I'll bite and again say not sure why people are getting so worked up about this. Most players in most of the games are going through the motions really and it's reflected in laboured play and some slapstick errors and defending. This is a waste of time competition no one wants to be involved in really. They're phoning it in and they are low effort low focus low intensity open matches.

On that 45 mins though there is a real problem in the zone between Tomori - Trippier - Rice. Eventually Italy will put it all together and get a goal through there if the problems carry on.

With the ball, will get absolute pelters, bring it, but that half did show some of the problems with Kane. He does just absolutely cement himself in the pocket nowadays and that seems to often cause problems for England, with no elite in-behind runner like Son to balance the equation. Grealish/Mount et al have looked happier without him and the ball has been moved a bit easier with a variety of players popping in and out of the No.10 area and between the lines and rotating positions.

Don't think it was a bad first half. Both team had chances. Italy look better when on the ball but that's to be expected. Ward-Prowse shouldn't be on the same pitch as Mount, it's one or the other.

It's ok.... Gary will have Mount in Goal next game... Anything to try and fudge the fucker in.

If Kane is on then he's just given his most invisible performance ever.

Why should it be expected?

After watching that half, I couldn't help but be struck by the irony that the Italian league is supposed to be far slower than the Prem, yet they're playing like they've all done a line of Billy, whilst our lot have looked like they've been toking before the game.

Trippier's best asset is the cross, but instead he's being asked to stay back and face waves of attack...
Always maintain his crosses are a myth.

But playing on the left means he's not even crossing the ball, hasn't attempted a single one because he can't (not totally his fault but some players are at least capable of using their other peg). So all he has done in advanced positions is check back to play with his right. He's made ONE smart short pass around the corner of Italy's RB all half.

The Italian league is possession based, much more so than the Premier League. So I would always expect Italy to look more comfortable with the ball. That's not our game and isn't our strength.

Southgate master plans are something of a myth

Our game isn't possession based?

For the bottom half of the table maybe, which excuses Ward-Prowse and even Rice, but the rest of them?

"Waste of time.... Not worth investing in....."

Proceeds to give analysis anyway. ;)

As per your Kane point:

We've created less in one half that we did with Kane & Grealish on in the last 10 mins against Germany. Kane and Grealish generally mesh ok......

Abraham hasn't been any more involved than Kane might; nor found himself with any more service or on the end of any more opportunities.

Sterling is what he is.

If Mount is "happier"; as our #10 by proxy, where's the tangible upswing in product/creativity?

We've been somewhat fortunate that the Italians haven't been able to hit a Cow's arse with a banjo so far.

Then Maguire hits a magical diagonal ball into row Z.
