I don't know how, anyone can't see it, I had these rumbled during the redknapp era, it was obvious their intention was survival in the league only.
The club has massively underachieved during their time.
Going the extra mile takes a lot of risk and expense. Nelson and Saha just helped us over the line to get top 4. Then Redknapp takes the fall for Chelsea winning the CL and taking our CL spot.
If Nelson and Saha had been, say, Cahill and Suarez......
But they both would have cost real money, not sofa change so.
People think Levy is a good businessman, but he's not really, is he. There a trail of errors over the decades where we have lost both in terms of football results and finances because of him.
Just off the top of my head:
Still no stadium sponsor
Stadium going well over budget and time because of him changing plans regularly
Choosing to focus on infrastructure over all else thinking it was a golden ticket
Not pushing on under Redknapp and giving him 2 over the hill mercenaries
Not pushing on under Poch with 2 entire windows of nothing when we were probably 2 or 3 class players from being the best in the country/Europe
Nono
Extremely poor transfer policies in the last 7-8 years
The stadium is his crowning glory. Yet what did he do? He got good finance I guess. The rest is down to advisors, architects, designers, engineers etc. It's not like he's pulled a rabbit out of a hat and built a £1bn stadium from shrewd investments. Most of it is on long terms, easily sustainable finance.
