It should have been a penalty. But it's football. You get some, you don't get some. Scotland left it far too late to have a bit of a go and only have themselves to blame, not the referee or VAR.

If the defender had tried to win the ball and gone through Armstrong then yes it would have been a penalty. But he didn't so it's not
