Absolutely ridiculous that a referee banned for match-fixing should ever be allowed to officiate at this level.So, in a nutshell:
- Zawyer takes money from a ref convicted for match-fixing. Which he says 'had no effect on the outcome' - what was the fucking money for, then?!
- Bellingham (un-)fairly? drags refs name through mud after that same ref makes a dodgy penalty call.
- Whereupon the ruling body fines Bellingham a week's wages.
- 3 years later the ref gets to officiate over a Euro semi-final where Bellingham is playing.
Let's be fair: it's almost impossible to imagine that Zawyer could remember an event so long ago, let alone harbour any resentment whatsoever towards Bellingham who was merely stating known facts. And even if he did, he is obviously a now-reformed model professional who would never let that undermine his decision or performance during the semi-final in any way.
What. So. Ever.
