Match Everton - Spurs - Feb 3rd - 12:30pm KO

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

First time for a while we've had a bench with maybe 5 players on where subbing them on doesn't show a drop off in quality from first team. And maybe that's the reason we used 5 subs.

But I'm not sure using 5 subs today helped us - just seemed to disrupt us and invite pressure onto ourselves.

But I understand using a couple of subs especially with neither Maddison nor Bentancur looking back to full fitness post injury.

Maybe something for Ange to think about for remaining matches

Do you leave on the starters for the last 10-15 minutes to see it out? There’s a serious drop non quality once we start running the bench.
The couple of brain farts that cost us were Deki and Romero.

You’ve got to wonder whether fatigue is playing a major factor in the loss of concentration resulting in the stat the Athletic published.

This is what happens when you take off a midfielder and bring on another defender - it's just asking for pressure.

So frustrating.
The subs second half told me Ange was trying to be pragmatic and defend the lead, like a lot of posters on here have wanted all season, didn't work out!

But having said that, we need to understand we have a couple of players returning from long term injury's, and players of on international duty. And they need to be managed.

I will never trust this defence, and players like Höjbjerg, Skippy, and Gil to see out games!

We dominated the entire second half

It was nothing like Wolves imo. They battered us
I’d hardly call that a dominant second half.

Porro had a chance, Richy had half a chance for that hat trick. Outside of those two chances, I don’t really remember many others. It was less jammy than the first but that doesn’t mean it was a dominant performance.

I agree though that Wolves away was a more dire performance.

The officiating also doesn't help.

Not even going to mention the foul for their equalising goal, but Gueye getting away with a blatant yellow in the middle of the park. Godfrey escaping a red card...

Yes, we could have dealt with things better but it also allows Everton to stay in the game. Same with Yates not being punished for Forest which ultmtely leads to Bissouma getting sent off etc

Just fucking annoying

Is that guaranteed, now?

If so, then yeah, we'll do it.
I don't think so.

The leagues with the best performance in Europe get the extra spots.

As it stands currently EPL doesn't get an extra spot since so many of them crashed out early. We probably need City to win the CL, Liverpool to win Europa, and maybe even Villa to win the Conference league to get that extra spot.

Everton at home are a bloody good team though to be fair. Drew with Villa a few weeks back. Destroyed Newcastle. Smashed Chelsea.

What's frustrating is the late equaliser. It most definitely feels like two points dropped.

Plenty of games left this season and I'm confident we'll get top four. But it's frustrating to concede it so late.
Everton a good team at home? Not sure about that. Before this, they had won 3, drawn 2, and lost 6. Only Burnley and Sheffield had worse home records.

This match was like a carbon copy of Wolves away. Scored early and then played shite for 87 minutes, got punished in the end.

Young team on a learning curve, and one that still is without two outstanding midfielders and a Captain.

Ange said after a loss in pre-season (can't remember the team) that we dropped off late in the game when leading close to halftime and then conceded.

He couldn't understand why we were trying to see the game out, and lose focus.

This is what happened today, but that said when you look at his sub's why make any that late unless it's to waste time of there's an injury?

Disappointed but would have taken a point, had the Everton leveler had come in the sixtieth minute then most people would have said a well earned point?

Couldn’t agree more. Like most of us, I love Ange and everything he’s doing. We see a weakness. I trust they’ll do the right thing and figure it all out in time.
His track record has shown that to be the case.
The second year under him is where it’s at.
If we’re not making significant progress on these things by this time next season, then we really have to look at it seriously
Aye. This season is the clear-out, initial recruitment, and getting the team to play the way he wants.

We're victims of having such a flying start. At the moment we're just not quite consistent enough, so despite flashes of brilliance or dominating portions of matches we're not yet grabbing an opposition by the throat and pounding them for 90 minutes (ooo err).

The good news, obviously, is that the squad overhaul has been better/faster than most of us would have expected and it's really obvious that the whole team buys into what Ange is trying to do.

We've only just started to get players back and into the XI....

Get Son, Biss, Solomon & GLC back too (+ factor in the fact that we've literally only just signed Dragusin & Werner) and the bench looks much stronger.

........As it is Kulu, Sarr & Dragusin is not crap players incoming anyway (personally don't think Skipp is crap either).
