For the love of God can we have a decent free kick.

Also somehow the commentator's always seem to react like the bad Kane FK is a fluke... to my knowledge he's scored 1 and that was 7 years ago. :kanehand:

We must have the lowest free kick conversion rate in the league. Kane seems to take most of them but they are generally awful. The club has generally had at least one decent free taker be it hoddle gazza, bale or erickson. Surely they must be some coaching of this deficiency

What does coaching mean ?

Youd think after missing our last 1000 free kicks, we might try playing some crosses in or a set play.

I guess nuno believes in the law of averages.

Lo Celso had a cracking free kick in the first half tonight. If it was a little more powerful. A little higher. A bit left. A bit right and a bit more on target we would have been talking about it until 22:56. (Posted @ 22:55)

In short. It was fucking hopeless

Hopefully Harvey White gets a decent loan in Jan and can break in to the first team in the future. He has loads of qualities that the team really needs like quality freekicks and corners. We've had a few midfielders break in to the first team in recent years but not really any technical players.

It's pretty embarrassing and disrespectful to the rest of the squad that we are still letting Kane take free kicks. Unless he somehow bangs them in in training. The only possible explanation is that the rest of them are even worse but I'd find that amazing. You could go to League 2 and get better free kick takers than us.

It's like saying to the rest of the squad "He's our best player/highest earner so he gets to take free kicks even if he sucks at them." That's not how a TEAM is supposed to work.

I wish they would ask questions like this to Conte in press conferences. Kane and Dier are not good at free kicks, Lo Celso's look like someone filled the ball with helium... How do we have not a one person who can hit the target with some pace? Ever since Eriksen stopped trying a few years ago we have been cursed...

Did anyone do anything involving an Indian burial ground??

Lucas took some free kicks in the EL last year and they were good. I think he even scored one. Not sure why he doesnt take them.

I suspect it’s selfish from Kane. There is a chance he could score from a free kick so he wants to take them to add to his own goal tally. Our captain is our keeper so he can’t get involved in FK taking discussions. So Harry wins.

Hopefully Conte will address this on the training ground

Spot on. It’s obvious this is the reason. I think ENIC and Levy don’t mind either because Kane is the star player. More exposure to the star player means more money
Come on mate. We don’t have to turn every thread into an ENIC/Levy bashing thread. To suggest that Levy / Lewis get involved in selecting FK takers is, quite frankly, laughable.

According to my dodgy memory, we haven’t had hardly any success at free kicks since Eriksen’s early seasons for us. To begin with he was very decent and and scored fairly regularly from them, then it all dried up for some reason.

Less than that. Eriksen's FK prowess was overplayed.
Just looked it up. He scored 8 in the Premier League, which puts him in the top 10 list since it started. He also scored free kicks in cup games. Pretty sure he scored one in the league cup semi to help get to the final under Poch. Again pretty sure in final he struct the woodwork from a free kick when it was nil nil. Typical Spurs.
Would like to see how many he scored season by season in all comps. I suspect it tailed off.

Did you know that, in the Premier League, the direct free kick conversation rate stands at only about six per cent? That equates to one goal for roughly every 18 attempts.
