Ex-Spurs Player Gareth Bale

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Played 90 mins tonight and whilst I wanted to see him with Son and Kane, he did fade towards the end. However his first half performance puts him in line for a start soon. Maybe Sunday.

Something clicked tonight for him, he looked faster, stronger and more determined then we have seen him before. Also clearly match fit now or atleast 80% there.

We have a problem. I’m not saying he deserves to start because he definitely doesn’t, but if we don’t give him a platform to build on his performance tonight, then we will never know if there is still a player inside of him.

This is the moment to give him a run of games and see if he can play his way back in to world class form. The only problem is Jose won’t do that and I can’t blame him, might be too little too late.

Our February schedule (and March/April if we advance in Europa and FA) is hellacious. Bale being a consistent option would be absolutely massive considering the fixture crunch.

That burst passed their defender in the second half was a joy.

That would be such an asset to us in the league - especially late on if we can start using him as a sub to bring on against tired legs. I think Bergwijn should start against Liverpool, he has 2 assists in his last 2 starts for us and has generally been our best RW (especially in the Prem) but I would hope that after tonight, Bale is ahead of Lucas and Lamela from the subs bench.

Started to see a few little signs tonight!! Cause for excitement.

Won’t accept he’s done! He’s 31 FFS

Vardy is 34!!

tonight was a great start! Keep it up Gaz!!

expect to see Bergwijn on thurs but maybe Gaz again on Sunday vs Brighton?

Thought it was his best 90 minutes for us since coming back and his sharpness grew throughout the game. I know he missed a couple early on but the way he grew into the game I feel he'd have taken those same chances had they come later on.

He just needs to stay fit and trust his body, the goals will come.

I've been one of his biggest critics on here but last night was glimmers of the old Bale, it wasn't just the goal which was excellent movement, as somebody else said it was him taking players on with that little burst of pace.
I'd honestly give him the first 45 again Liverpool with the understanding he just runs his granny out and will come off at half time.

I want to see a firing Bale in a front three with Son and Kane, with Ndombele in behind.

Obviously not going to happen, but I think if a player puts in a quality performance they should start the next game, even if it was just Wycombe.

The concern with him is his intensity without the ball. Kane, Son, Bergwijn, Lamela and Lucas run hard and help the team to defend. If Bale wants to start league games he has to do the same.

This is the biggest question mark over him. We can't carry anybody.

Would defo like to see him get some minutes against Liverpool - is a risk worth taking in terms of him picking up some momentum now and building up confidence on the pitch. It's a big game and i'm sure he'd relish the chance to get involve in some meaningful action in the league.

Timing for a performance from him couldn't be better now.

I saw a lot I liked last night. He is clearly rusty but sharpness only comes with competitive game time.
How he just goes through defences remains a hugely potent weapon and a joy to see. He may not be able to do lung bursting charges down the wing any more but he still looks very quick over a shorter distance.
I think I’d give him at least first half against the scousers - maybe longer if he’s not blowing out of his arse. His reputation alone (& what we saw last night) would give Klopp a huge headache about containing a front 3 of Kane, Son & Bale, with PEH & Tanguy in midfield.
Go for it Jose. Make an old man happy.
And please beat these fucking cunts handsomely.

His game kind of encapsulated the entire team's performance.

He started slow, sluggish and looking like he expected that he could get away with the bare minimum. Then once we went one behind he started to take it more seriously and as the game went on you could see that he had a point to prove. The old winners mentality in him woke up and he was much more involved in the second half. And he showed a lot of positives.

He'll probably still be behind Bergwijn in the league for now. But this was definitely a step in the right direction and he made a good case for himself getting minutes off the bench in the league.

Glad to see the performance and improvement from Gareth. I still would like Bergwijn to start against liverpool due to his athleticism, but hope Bale can come on around 70' to run at a tired Liverpool defense and take our free kicks.
