Hell, it's a bit of a no-brainer. Would Real Madrid want him? Yes. Is their most important player possibly on the way out? Yes. Is Bale the most obvious replacement for that player in the world? Yes. Are there spurious quotes to give the story some semblance of reality? Yes. Would Bale go to Madrid if he had the chance? Probably.
