Bale as the 10, doing what Lucas was basically told to do today, could work out well. Jose seems to finally trust the pivot of Ndombele and Hoj, so that other midfielder can finally bring in flair we need at the edge of the box.

It's a lovely thought but Mourinho playing a midfield 3 of Hojbjerg/Ndombele and Bale is almost inconceivable against any half-decent team. He wouldn't play Lo Celso and Tanguy together and GLC probably works twice as hard as Gareth can do now.
I'm one of the few that still think Bale has something to offer but unfortunately this manager is the wrong person to get it from him. He's finished as long as Jose is here.
He did something similar to this in his very first game v West Ham. Yet he went back to the bench after that. That's what will happen again, this manager won't trust him because he won't be able to offer anything defensively.
