I honestly for the life of me can't figure out why the fuck Geezergood19 Geezergood19 doesn't think it makes sense for us to get rid of him now.

Some people are just idiots.

Mason would do a better job because he wants us to win above all else.
Conte is in full blown "sack me or i'll fuck things up" mode.
Forest

Forster
Romero Dier Davies
Royal PEH Skipp Perisic
Kuku Kane Son

Bet your fucking arse on it.
40% of the ball, 0-0 make a change at 80 minutes and lose 1-0
Son plays 90 minutes and does nothing at all for all of them. Kulu gets hooked because the 14 passes he makes to Son end up either in row z or back with the nearest Forest player to tackle Son.
Kane looks largely fed up playing as a deep lying midfielder.

Oh FFS you're probably right as well...

Most teams in this situation you'd be expecting a reaction by now, but time and time again our lot just sink deeper and deeper into the well of despondency... Eventually we get that "wounded bear" performance 3 or 4 games after you think the nadir has been reached.

I bet Conte's rousing teamtalk will revolve around how we can't hope to compete with Nottingham Forest's pedigree and raft of new signings, and that we need to concentrate on keeping it tight at the back...

Conte is attempting to embarrass Levy into sacking him and paying compensation.

Levy has brought this on himself.

This grubby penny pincher will allow Spurs to be dragged through the dirt rather than pay off the mercenary he was forced to hire to fuck off quietly.

Levy deserves it too for treating a good man like Martin Jol so shabbily.

What goes around.

Levy actually owes Conte.

Conte agreeing to manage Spurs bought Levy an 18 month reprieve for 30 million in wages.

Conte has earned his bounty.

The cheap bastard running Spurs is right back where he was when Conte did him a favour.

What beggars belief is that many will now settle for a 'project manager' and some entertaining football which will buy Levy and ENIC another 18 months.

Conte is just another symptom.

Spurs need a cure for the 22 year disease we have been afflicted with.
Personally, I don't think we owe Conte a penny. If anything, we should be suing him for the damage his wilful negligence has caused the club.

His treatment of players such as Gill, Spence etc, and his rigid team selection makes this untenable.

On the rigid part, this reminds me: I have kept hearing from Alasdair Gold and the like, that Conte has very set schemes. He wants players to move in (pre-)set patterns. And this is what takes some players longer than others to pick up. Most notably Bissouma.

Beyond individual players of real quality being left out cold, what I've thought all along is that this approach would have been fine when Conte was playing. Maybe even 5-10 years ago as a manager. But now. If Conte, and the players he selects, knows those patterns, then with modern tech and an army of performance specialists at every competitor we have, then opponents will know too. Is this what we're seeing. A stubborn man who cannot come to terms with the year being 2023 and cannot counteract that his opponent managers have him figured out?

I'm calling it right now: Conte has won his last trophy.

I said a few weeks ago that we should have been putting a contract in front of Kane while the mood was high. Beat City, Spam, Chelsea, broke the club scoring record, merrily in 4th but people seemed fine that we were apparently going to spend time on Diers fucking contract. A player who needs replacing.

Since that happened, we've gone out of 2 cups, lost a league game and the coach is hopefully hours away from being sacked.

That window of opportunity I spoke of has gone. We could maybe have played on Kanes emotions to get him to sign.
Not now.

To be fair, we don't know that wasn't the case, ie that we did put a contract in front of him. I would have thought so.

I mean nothing would surprise me at this point at this club, but it would be insane if we haven't had a contract dangling in front of Kane all along. The likely scenario is that he has said, that he will pass on anything they put in front of him now, and will only consider his options in the summer. Anything else would be equally insane from Kane's perspective. Why would he commit, when we have a manager who won't commit? And Kane has no idea what direction the club is heading?

If we go down the route of appointing yet another manager that Chelsea have sacked I think I'll cry.

Indeed, and with regards to Tuchel, from what I've seen on here, there's not been a single mention of the fact that there was strong rumours of him being sacked because of something really nasty behind the scenes. Which hasn't come out. But, and it's a biggie as buts go, seems known within football community.

Would there be anything more Spurs than us hiring him, and that something nasty exploding into public a week later...

Needs elite specific players to make it work just like Conte and Jose before him.
This is not necesarrily true regarding Luis. He's a flexible manager that builds his team around the strengths in the squad.

Has Spain was heavy on possession in midfield because they lack clinical strikers. During his spell at Barcelona he retooled from Pep's tiki taka to a more direct style of attack that utilized the strength of hi MSN forward line when the legs of Xavi and Iniesta went.

He's not as rigid as some make him out to be.

That's not a problem with the DoF choosing the style of football though, just a problem that our DoF seems to have chosen a garbage style of football! Style of football seems intrinsically linked to a lot of the other factors you want him to oversee tbh, so whilst not essential, it would be pretty handy for the incumbent to be stylistically aligned with the desire of the club/fans.

Paratici from day 1 seemed like such an odd choice for us, and I'd wager that Levy's footballing peabrain was blinded by the fact that he could get the guy from Juve to join us, just as he was starstruck by Jose despite much evidence that his powers were on the wain by the time he was willing to consider us.
yup, and blinded by reports of a shrewd negotiator, which now looks like it might be proved are iffy.

If he'd only managed Barcelona and Spain then I'd see your point completely, but didn't he also do pretty well with Roma, relatively speaking?

Relative to what exactly? I just loosely recalled him being disaster, so I'll readily admit I looked this up.

They finished 7th in the league. Their lowest position since 2004-05 when they finished 8th. They've finished higher every season since he left, bar one season also 7th. They went out of Europe to Slovan Bratislava and in their first round of the Italian Cup to Cagliari.

So, in a word, no :contehandshead:

It does feel like this is inevitable at this point.

What is even more annoying is that we have a chance at top four and a decent run of games. Hard to see us securing it with Conte but doubt Levy will make a move

Harold Shipman was a good footballer i heard........🤔
Sorry - that went over my head.

My point was that Carragher is an eminently well qualified person to comment on top level footballing matters. One with revolting habits, but then I wasn't there to see what made him react like that to whatever insults he had thrown at him.

We can see on here that footballing opinions nowadays have to be accompanied by an unhealthy level of vitriol and insults, and this is Spurs (supposedly) fans talking about Spurs players in the most abhorrent terms - mostly by people who couldn't hit a barn door at 20 paces with a football, let alone grasp the stresses, skill and demands of professional and elite level football.

Pretty much my exact thoughts, though I expect a change (Sanchez) at 70 mins and Richarlison around 82 mins..
But I do think we will win this game to Conte's horror.

Possibly - not that Levy is a gentleman

I was saying that more in response to media stories that were doing the rounds saying we were working on a new deal for Dier now and when that's sorted, we'd move on to Kane.
Waiting to sort Kane out is like waiting for your chance with a hot girl. She won't be available for very long.

Your mistake then - as it is now - was to assume that we haven't had a round of talks with Kane previously.

It's also doubtful whether these so-called reports(*) know that either. (*Was it any more than 1 tweet? ....that made ref to Kane? ....Not that I'd seen.)

So really; you're not vindicated in any form of wisdom here.

I think the players are at the point now where they want him gone so will probably fail to score.
