I think they may have been something to the fact that the back problems appeared after his drunken night out in Romania. I mean, maybe that is what caused them and maybe it caused friction between him and the organization. But he was in and out last year, not just out for one large stretch. Maybe you are right and I am reading in to it too much, and I hope in some ways you are. But when the club goes from a "visa probelm" excuse to uhhhh, "back problem" excuse in 2 weeks time while courting an eerily similar defender it rings the "this guy is getting sold" alarm for me.
sure, its all plausible i guess, i just hope its Kaboul and/or Dawson out the door personally.

He's done, mate

Inclined to agree, Kaboul is a great CB when he's on form, but his injuries have just been too consistent for him to find any consistency in his game. Could have been one of the best in the league, but should probably ply his trade in a slower league unless he wants to face an early retirement.

I saw him bent over tying up his laces more times on the pitch than I saw him make a crucial tackle or interception.

A fully fit and focused Kaboul has something thing to offer us and we haven't had that for a long time; it's arguable that we haven't had ever had it. If we are being offered a fair few million for him we would be silly not to take it, especially since his contract is almost up.

I think I remember reading that he has a €50 million realase clause. Probably where the rumors of €50m/£39m have come from. I think most players in La Liga have ridiculous release clauses. And I don't think anyone ever meets them.

I hope he stays. He's our fastest cb and our most powerful. If his injury days are behind him, we will be throwing away an excellent defender.

Last seasons calamities happened, but only a few were his fault. We need speed at the back.

In fact positions we do fill from this point forward need to be speedsters. From the midfield to strikers we don't have much (usable) pace.
