It's not really about being boo boys. Rose used to be first choice LB and Davies would be rotated with him. That's what Davies is good for, squad rotation, he shouldn't be an automatic first choice starter, ever.
Players get older, go off the boil and suffer injuries. If you really want to see spurs win something you need to take off the blinkers. Davies, Dele, dier, winks, sissoko are all decent squad players that's all. Sure they all gave us some great moments but you're deluded if you think they shouldn't be upgraded just because they've been good pros (while receiving many many thousands of pounds)

Come on, there are certain posters on here that slate the players to death. Go back over any player thread, even Kane, Loris, Son have had a certain section of fans slagging them off at one point or another. The moron Ighulu or whatever he's called and a few others have said they don't want Davies in the team again.

I've stated I think he'll be rotated, same with Aurier. Funny how all the players you and others mention have all contributed to our success these past few years. The issue hasn't always been about these players not being good enough, more that they are all a certain type of player. Solid, dependable, not flash or overly technical. All teams need these players, certainly all squads do. Our problem is sometimes we've had to rely on too many of them starting together at any one time due to lack of other options, which has led to some flat performances when their hasn't been someone who can provide that moment of magic or amazing skill to break a deadlock. It looks like Mourinho is now fixing this, so hopefully we'll see more flair and technical play, which will bring more excitement to us fans.

And yet Davies has been left back for a team consistently finishing top 4 the past few years. Anyone think the injuries he's had past couple of years might have just impacted his form a bit. The guys a model pro, who has never let the club down and Jose loves that in a player. Pathetic how the boo boys have rounded on him (along with Sisokko and Dier) after their last targets left the club.

It's great we've signed another left back, but anyone thinking this is the end of Ben starting games for us is going to be sadly disappointed. Both F.B.s on either flank (if Aurier stays) will get plenty of game time. Best way for everyone to look at this is to see that competition for the starting spot can only benefit the team.

Criticizing a player that clearly has flaws does not make someone a "boo bird." Ben Davies is clearly limited going forward and very average defensively to go along with it. That isn't hating him it is pointing it out. If he is on the bench as a sub that is great because he seems to have a great attitude, is experienced and versatile in that he can play LB and CB if needed.

Watching our team and how much we struggled to create chances last year it was clear that having one of our full backs unable to help create anything from his side of the field was something that needed to change in order for us to be able to create more chances.

It is unfortunate that players that people like aren't always able to live up to the lofty goals that the team and most fans have for the club but that doesn't make anyone a hater for pointing that out and wanting better. Some people need to get over their aversion to players getting criticized and thinking that the only way to be a fan is to blindly wave pom poms ignoring reality.

Maybe it's just because I am exposed to a lot more English football media than I am in other European countries, but it just seems like 95% of them are fucking thick as pig shit.

I'm sure there's some German Tim Sherwood out there asking what's the big deal about Lewandowski because he's Polish or something.

Normally we have around 20-30 pages of cunt-offs, YT videos and weird discussions before a player is actually signed. On Reggies page we only have 9. Wonder why...

Totally clueless. The arrogance is hilarious given that LaLiga dominates Europe overall.

Some of those ageing Italian pundits look like they're just off their face on too much viagra tbh.

In my limited experience, in Europe, there appear to be a more balanced programming. All the Sports channels I've seen (Dutch, Italian, Spanish) have their clickbait shows, with a real dumbing down of analysis but the same broadcasters will air a more analytical show through their mix. Some of the dutch one s I've seen are really nerdy and detailed.

Here in the UK there is only one show and that's Sky's MNF. I think this is brilliant and sadly I can't think of another segment that comes close. The key ingredient that this show has, that all the others lack (which includes pre/post match, even half-time analysis) is research. Sherwood, in fact even Neville and Spitty when they haven't research the teams they are watching the result is just narrative bollocks.

It annoys me, mainly because they are highly paid and yet they have just little respect to those listening to them that they don't take their job seriously.

There are at every club some brilliant analysis that exists at the fan level. We have our very own Nathan Clark by way of example, but also Seb Stafford-Bloor who's a season pro for example. When Jenus first started out, he was excellent as it was clear he spent time researching the teams he was watching.

The key, it to unearth those like Nathan at their respective clubs and build on their obsessive on one team. I only get exposed to those clips of pundits like Sherwood via my Twitter feed, I've so little interest in what they say.

Davies has been a good servant. Doesn't complain, gets on with it and has had some great games for us.

He started alot of games in our most successful ever Premier League season. Same amount as Danny Rose infact.

Gets a bit of a hard time due to his style as opposed to his actual ability. But as he can play left back or at centre back in a 3, he can be pretty valuable with his experience.

I look forward to seeing Reguilon though. Do prefer an exciting attacking full back.
Agree, he's a guy who has never had any false illusions about his qualities and abilities which means he doesn't try anything too flowery or fancy. There are better out there but sometimes you need reliability and adaptability rather than unpredictable genius.

Would anyone now switch davies to left centre half. He was class there in few games under poch. Would provide lovely balance with toby or sanchez

In the Europa League or League Cup? Sure

In the starting 11 for PL games? Hell no

Now here is where my excitement lies today.......................

This is such a big deal for us. There is a huge difference in quality between Sergio and Ben. Massive upgrade.

Bale is an upgrade as well, but we already had good quality wingers.

We now have tremendous depth at FB and on the wings. If it were up to me, we would keep Aurier. He should get plenty of game time.
