Multiply this 10 fold in England, if it happens.

Scottish clubs' decision to conclude the Scottish Professional Football League season has been met by threats of legal action.
The motion did not initially pass until Dundee dramatically changed their position, thus allowed rivals Dundee United to be crowned Championship winners and relegating the likes of Partick Thistle and Stanraer.

Going to be a lot of rich(er) laywers about.

Please stop with this hyperbolic virtuous nonsense.

We all completely understand (well the vast majority of us) the gravity and horrible seriousness of this virus. But football does matter. It matters not just for the cultural and social reasons, which form part of the fabric of millions of people's lives, but it also matters enormously like any huge industry matters, that employs millions of people, and generates billions of bounds in revenue for local areas up and down the country and the government as an industry.

Not resuming the current season could mean the industry loses over a billion pounds, that could mean job losses, it already is meaning job losses, that means lives affected adversely, that means the economy damaged even more than it is, which in turn mean lives made harder for ordinary people, because not only are the out of work but when the economy tanks, public services get cut - like the NHS etc.

Of course the priority is doing what's right to save lives and to manage the health crisis. But there are very valid reasons why the PL clubs would potentially like to find a way to finish out the season if safely possible.
But we aren’t a business. We’re different. We can survive infinitely without income. Nobody supports British Airways.

Lots of papers carrying headlines of football starting on 8 June. Doesn’t tell the whole story though as a lot has to happen for that to occur around testing. Not impossible but seemingly the most optimistic start date (if you want to season to recommence).

It was neither hyperbole or virtuous .... in fact a reasonable assessment of where we are

you can’t win all the time .... the football industry and namely the premier league has had a meteoric rise in value .

nothing goes up in a straight line and you have to take your losses wipe your mouth of it and plan ahead

if they’re smart they’ll concentrate on ways of getting fans into grounds as safely as is possible etc so they still have a product to sell

trying to save this season is a bust

I disagree it's a bust, or that it really doesn't matter (as per the post I responded to). It matters like any any huge industry that employs hundreds of thousands, and brings in billions in revenues.

There is possibly around a billion at stake if it doesn't complete the season. If that is the case, I understand why clubs will explore every possible avenue to complete it.

Again in the scheme of things a billion really is chump change

just look at the numbers required to socialise the losses of world economies right now

I mean sure if they can scramble something by shoehorning in the season end and not sacrifice the future seasons then why not

I still don’t think it’s hyperbole to suggest it’s a reasonable solution to not do so

Final results of the BBC poll.

If the season was voided (which I think it should be) and re-set as was last year, would that mean all goal scoring records would be wiped, all results, even City's League Cup? Or would they still stand?

I would say City's league cup will still stand (at least it should) as that was concluded. Everything else would and should be expunged I feel.

Lower leagues still have to pay fines and players face suspensions.

So past games all voided but players missing games from next season.......work that one out!!

It’s just a matter of time before the season is voided , surely players will need 4-6 weeks of pre season now before they can play 90 minutes ? The funniest thing is it was klopp who was so up for a winter break, but imagine if there wasn’t a winter break, Liverpool would have probably already won the league this season ! :levylol: :allitongue: :mourpointlaugh::sonpoint:

18 months from now the PL and probably Championship landscapes will look very different.
