We're still in with a shot at European football.

Top 4 earns CL football, that is obviously out of the running.
5th gets EL football.
The FA cup also gets a EL group stage spot.
The winner of the league cup gets a Conference league spot.

And if the cup winners already finish in the top 5, those spots trickle down of course. So we could finish as low as 7-8th and still get the conference league spot. Which yes, is not sexy but it is European football.
Sure, it is technically true, but I refuse to do this to myself. I don’t think we are winning shit and 6th feels like a million miles away.

I like what he has done as well, but not really a draw for players is he? I don’t think that should be anywhere near the biggest determining factor, but would be nice to have a manager that players would look forward to getting the chance to work with.
They will soon be won over if the training sessions are interesting, they think he’s a decent human/leader and results come eg the opposite of the current shitcunt

Yeah people aren’t looking forward to working with Jose, it’s that Potter I tell ya. They can’t wait to get a chance to learn from his illustrious career!

Just bring Parker, who is at least Spurs. That’s it.

I think we overthink things. Players are fans of the game. Look at what Coleman said after the game yesterday. He said "that's a well coached team". Potter isn't no name, but I think we are in a major overhaul period. We need a young coach. We need a coach that has a masters in leadership and emotional intelligence! This team needs a man manager. Look how much fun Brighton have.

My hard on for him is 5" of pure steel.

Its been amazing having Jose attract all those players to come play for him and see the amazing results that have come with it.

I agree with you, but on the other side if the manager coaches and sets up his team well, he has a higher chance of winning matches. Winning matches makes the players more confident that their manager is leading the club in the right direction. Might not be the most thrilling name out there, but if Potter can do the job he’ll get the players on his side.

People calling all these names are laughable. We DO NOT have the caliber of players to go out and win titles, so anyone coming here has to be a project manager.

No manager worth their salt will watch what Jose is not achieving and think oh I’ll turn these lot into prime Barca. No chance. They are probably looking at and going, yeah I can take on that but Daniel has to buy about 10 players.

So Scott Parker for me and at least we might enjoy the football. Winning pots and being up there with City? Pipe dream.

Clearly we need some players, but we still have a much better team and squad than we're currently showing under Mourinho.

A front three from Kane, Son, Bale and Moura would wet any managers appetite.

In midfield we have some talented players, ones that another manager could take to another level in Tanguy and Lo Celso. There's still a player in Dele. Højbjerg isn't quite on the level as Kante or Fabinho but it still one of the better defensive midfielders in the Premier League.

The back line needs a lot of work but all in all, there's no reason for any manager worth their salt not to have our lot challenging for a top 4 place. And I say that as someone who tends to be a glass half empty, miserable weapon.

I'm feeling very conflicted in all honesty. I don't think we are as bad of a team as we seem to be at the moment. Yes, we have some major issues in the team, but overall we are waaay underperforming with some of the talent we have. So, a part of me thinks that with a new and more dynamic coach and a couple of key new additions we could be right back in the thick of it. With a respected enough coach, it may be easier to grab those key, impact players. That's a lot of if's though, but if it works it is a quicker line to success.

On the other hand, the idea of going with a Potter type of coach, and maybe we can get back to enjoying Spurs again and not having everything feel so goddamn toxic would be fantastic. This could still be really successful for us, but may just take a little longer to rebuild.

Yes. But he’s batshit crazy. Really great manager. I love the man. Also plays 90% of time 442. So basically the Portuguese Redknapp on cocaine

I think we have to be patient and let the rebuild take a few years. So getting a manager like Potter in to man it and shape the team makes sense. Give him 3-4 years to work his magic and do his thing. And we shouldn't start discussing sacking the new guy unless we are finishing consistently outside of the top 10. We should still aim for European football each season, but not necessarily CL as the required minimum.

The Pochettino/2010's project should be declared over and a new project should be allowed to take shape.
