I'd imagine they are keeping the injury quiet until we (hopefully) buy a replacement, otherwise the selling club may bung the price up as we will look desperate ( which we will be)

edit, as above posted by Harrier

Just gutted for him. Felt like he was playing his best football of last season in the Europa League games and making a difference to matches. Then the injury that finished last season, followed by this one.
Fingers crossed but not hopeful.

Unlikely to be anything but bad news I imagine
Why should we dare to expect any good news?
It's been 3 days without an update and there have been reports the swelling hasn't gone down enough for a scan. So best case we are probably looking at an ACL tear which for a frail player like him is probably 9-12 months.
If he's done his MCL and meniscus as well it would be a surprise if he plays another game for us. It seems like his knee completely exploded.
Jesus Christ....
If Carlsberg did injuries!

I tore my meniscus and it's not fully recovered now even after a year, though I can do pretty much anything again, it takes a long fucking time to heal and still gets inflamed occasionally

Assume we aren't giving any update on this yet as the club might actually realise how bad the reaction will be to an announcement of a long-term injury without any no.10 signing

Not sure of the comparison but some rugby players recently ie Dan sheehan have been back from cruciate injuries in record time.
Obv could be seperate issues but football players seem to take longer

This is ridiculous - could you imagine Liverpool worrying about this? It’s something out of the Alan Sugar playbook, things have moved on
Why is it ridiculous?

So you don’t know the severity of the injury! So flipping what & do you think they care?

If that’s the reason (or it could be the swelling as spurs9 suggested) it’s common sense they keep it quiet as obviously if he’s out for the season or just a month is bound to make a difference to the apparent desperation to recruit and potentially the transfer price.

But don’t let that get in the way of you having another opportunity to pointlessly criticise the club! 🙄

Do we even know if he went back to London now most of the staff are in Germany.
Long haul flights with a bad knee injury can’t be the most sensible thing to do surely?

Let’s say he did fly back.
Which probably would have increased swelling and given him more risk of DVT.

What’s the rush for the news?
Best case scenario he misses a little bit of time.
Worst case it’s an injury that could severely impact his career.

I’d much rather they got the best opinions and that’s normally linked to swelling going away.

Poor guy

At least now there is clarity. We need a new long term no 10 playmaker because at his age and injury record Maddison is finished as a top level player

He's 29 in November.
He'll be 30 before he hits form again a year later.

We need a new #1 CAM. The future is now.

I sort of wonder whether he’d have been better off doing his ACL when he originally injured that knee back in May.

I feel like his knee was never really that strong after the ligament damage and maybe that’s why the ACL happened?
