Player James Maddison

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Put in a nice shift yesterday. But…….. for me, he tends to slow the attack by standing at the corner of the box demanding the ball rather than letting the play flow. Not all distribution needs to go through the #10.

Yeah, was just about to post the same, watching it back he was really vocal for everyone in terms of their effort and positioning. Also talking to the subs before they come on, giving Davies instructions and talking to them all individually when the game was done. Was great to see
Yeah it really was. Absolutely what a leader should be. Hopefully he's realised he needs to step up. Even if he cant create everything on the pitch, trying, being vocal, organising and motivating those around him still lifts everyone.

Still won’t satisfy lots of people. They’d just say all he does is wave his arms and tell people what to do when he can’t do it himself 🤣

His goals have been very good this season. Very composed in his finishing.

So... Maddison scored a goal and his very good dribbling kicked off the move when we scored 3rd goal as well.

During weekend, it was his pass that created by far the best chance of the game (that Sarr absolutely messed up) AND his through-ball created penalty situation.

Overall he has 11 goals and 7 assists with just 2217 minutes on field (goal contribution for every 123 minutes played!).

But just wait and see. One game where he does not score or assist and he again will be "lightweight", "absolutely useless", "utter wanker" and million more names. Mark my fucking words.

Correct 👏

Exactly. People wrongly do not use proper data to drive their opinions. I respect that you use facts and statistics to actually back up your claims. This is a quality player who Spurs need to build the team around.

He’s a good footballer but you absolutely do not build a team around James Maddison if you have top level ambitions.
Postecoglou would never have been hired if this club had top level ambitions, he's not a top level manager.

At least that argument could be made for Mourinho and Conte but they need lots and lots of backing from the board, it was never going to happen because the ambition isn't there to pay the wages to bring in the very best players.

Our fans are weird

Criticise Maddison for only turning up "33%" of the time

Yet worship Kulusevski, the dictionary definition of inconsistency

Only if the particular game is lost would be my assessment of those who might say something.

The issue we have is that unlike a few years ago, too much of the time it falls to one or two players, whereas it used to be maybe 3 or 4.

Either way, who cares as long as we win, and I think you will find the answer to that is no one.

We really need to end this madness of asking him to play as 8. He is born 10 and two other central midfielders should cover center of the pitch as double pivot with him tuning in front of them.

He often falls easilly, but yesterday when it mattered the most - he managed to stay on his feet and carry the ball for 3rd goal.
Maddison, Bergvall and Gray just feels right to me. Madders has the creativity, Berg the legs and Gray the control with defensive nous.
