slightly strange comment after today.
Thought that was one of his more Ange friendly performances in a while, in and out of possession. First half at least.
Yeah possibly, but it’s one half in several weeks of mediocre performances where he looks like he’s lost the faith in the manager.
I must admit I turned off half way through the second half for fear of being bored to death and the constant buffering driving me nuts.

Honestly, and I could re-post this in every current player thread, given the, er, quality of our coaching and manager, I find it very difficult to properly judge any of our players at the moment...

He’s the only player of ours anywhere near the good zone.
He's actually had a fairly good season seeing as the fraud manager has frozen him out for long stretches.
TFC is such a weird place. Concede 4 (could have been more) against a bad Wolves team and everyone is straight in slating the attackers.
Our defence is abysmal.
actually think Maddison has been playing well despite the shit show yesterday. Not that it matters but earned what was, IMO, a stonewall penalty in the first half yesterday and linked nicely with Tel and Spence down our left.
I think he doesn't jibe well with Son though. He always seems to be in a great position whenever Son wants to shoot and because Maddison is great a linking with others in the final third, it highlights that it really isn't Son's game at all.
The issue is the areas he operates in, I don't know if it is because of Ange, but he's just way too deep too often and not affecting play enough, he then tries his little twists and turns in those areas and gets caught which puts other teams through on goal.
The problem I have with Maddison is he's not really an attacking 8. He's an out and out 10 and really needs 2 more defensive mids behind him. He also needs legs in the midfield behind him so I always think him with Bentancur/Bissouma makes us very light in midfield as we don't have the legs to cover transitions.
For this reason, I think the best midfield for when Maddison plays is actually Sarr Bergval Maddison because Sarr and Bergval have the legs to cover the ground and make up for Maddison's more static presence.
But you could also argue we could just be a much more complete midfield without Maddison where we have Bentancur as the 6 and Bergval and Sarr in the 8s. To me that offers much more balance. We lose Maddison's creativity but we end up with a much more balanced midfield who won't be bullied as easily. And now Kulusevski is back- I'd argue Bentancur Bergval Kulusevski is our best midfield 3.
So the problem isn't really Maddison's individual performances, he is the most creative midfield player we have by a mile! Its more the balance of the team is all wrong with him. He needs Declan Rice and Partey behind him, not Bentancur and Bergval!

His levels of not arsed are reaching the Leicester relegation season where he completely downed tools and put in some of the most gutless performances I've ever seen.

Clear as day that pretty much the entire team has stopped playing for our fraud of a manager and his ineffective/stupid tactics. Completely understandable …

2. Injuries
3. He's not as good as we or he thinks he is
In his defence, he is probably the most fouled player and is our only real creative source, and we are never set up to bring out the best from him (this applies to nearly all our players TBF).
The dynamic between him and Ange is so toxic, even we can see the damage that this is doing to team morale and spirit.

He’s been our most productive player this season. (9 goals and 6 assists). And he’s done it in less minutes on the pitch than most. He also sees more of the ball per game than all our other “attacking” players.
I’m really baffled at the level of criticism pointed at Maddison. In a struggling team he’s the only attacking player who’s performing consistently.
And he had Ange’s card marked quicker than most people too
100% this. He rumbled him and he literally has not been forgiven.
