Tanganga used to ply LCB in Spurs youth. If we are not playing every weekend, and mid week, and have a few players who can cover different positions (ideally), then you don't need 2 players per position, although its probably many coaches desire.

But if there are not enough games to regularly play players (and 2 players per position means you need a lot of games typically playing weekend and mid week), then players get unhappy at insufficient playing time

........Yet people want to bin off certain comps because of fixture congestion and to "concentrate on the league"!

Of course I speak of a utopia; but so long as we qualify for Europe there's loads of games..... World Cup next season is gonna condense the season even further too; much like Covid and crazy amounts of internationals has over the last 2 seasons.

And; it's not like I'm suggesting we buy any more defenders than we already have on our books.... 2 in/2 out is what I've suggested.

I don’t know fuck all about Gleison Bremer. But look at his statistics, he compares quite similarly to Romero in that he’s quite aggressive and wins a lot of tackles and interceptions. He also seems to score quite a lot for a CB which I guess can’t hurt.

I still think our priority should be a left footed CB comfortable in possession, but if this lad is available for 20m then I think he’s at least an obviously Sanchez replacement and we’d probably be after another top quality CB in the summer.

We can confirm Charlie Sayers has joined Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur for an undisclosed fee.

The 17-year-old, who broke into the first team this season, will join Spurs’ Academy as a second-year U18s player.

Sayers made six first-team appearances for Blues after making his debut in October this year.

Head coach Kevin Maher said: "For a young lad to get the opportunity to go to Tottenham, you can’t stand in his way.

"He broke into the team this season and to play at 17 in a really tough league shows a lot of character. He’s got a mature head on him for his young age and hopefully he can take that forward.

"Tottenham is a brilliant football club and they’ve got some really good people there that I know well. He’ll be looked after and coached very well and it’s up to him now to take the opportunity.

"He’s a great lad and we wish him all the very best and hope to see him go on and have a great career."

Everyone at Blues would like to wish Charlie the best of luck for the future.

Straight into the team for Thursday then....

He looks an absolute unit too so maybe he would be in the centre of the back 3

Sell, either in January or in the summer:

Sanchez
Doherty
Ndombele (never a Conte player)
Alli
Bergwijn

Whether he finds form again soon or not, Kane is staying at the club as his ship has sailed in regards to moving to a better club. Even if he does find some old form, the top clubs will rather wait for Haaland and Vlahovic at the end of the season, those that actually want or need a striker.

I would have added both Winks and Dier to that last, but I think the latter has been solid under Conte, and the manager seems to like him, and the former wouldn't really be worth selling for what we would get for him.

Another striker and a midfielder, someone that can actually create, should be the priorities, although they certainly aren't the only areas we need improvement. I'd even take Coutinho right now if he fancied it.

1000%. People are always going on about his finishing but he has never claimed to be a striker. And he causes problems against defences. Plus he's one of the most fouled players in the PL so a large number of free kicks are up for grabs. Conte would make him sensational but he's probably bound for Anfield.
More free kicks you say? I can’t wait to see Kane blast them all into the wall. At least he might hit one of the defenders in the plums

On the utterly irrational eye test he looks less of a pushover than Sanches. But Like Romero and Emerson I know nothing about him. If Antonio wants he gets simple.

Dier can play LCB as can Rodon I think? But I don’t think either will be as good as Davies marauding into the opposition box.

We do need another CB. But I’m not sure that is as big a priority as a playmaker CM / CAM.

And whilst Moura is good in patches I tend to agree with the PSG approach and use him as an impact sub. Moura running around chasing his own tail like an excited puppy is probably more scary for defenders with tired legs in the 75th minute.

Mours played only a relatively few minutes for PSG as an impact sub as they had just bought Neymar.

The season before (without Neymar at PSG) Moura scored something like 17 goals plus assists playing in most matches.

Agree on CB's - my post responded to the 'fact' that we had no cover for Davies as LCB, pointing out that Tanganga had regularly played there for u23's.
