Not all players improve magically by being loaned out.
Both James and Mount were already seen as exceptional talents before they went out on loan
But it’s pretty tough to make a determination on this young talented player when he hasn’t even started 20 games of professional football in his position. He’s being written off mostly because of one game. If he plays well in the week, everyone would be calling him our saviour, that’s how fickle the approach is.
Writing him off this early would be silly.
What do we lose by loaning him out and seeing how he progresses for a season, as opposed to selling him for (let’s say) £15m now?
