Transfers January 2022 - Transfer Window

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It stands to reason doesn't it. Spurs have two 'star' centre midfielders purchased to maintain spurs' position in top 4.

Right now we can see that neither are fit for purpose and should essentially be viewed as two major gaps in the squad.

You can't expect champions league or even europa league footy when the two best centre midfielders are figuratively AWOL.

Why does it always feel like our manager (whoever it is at the time) communicates his transfer needs to our chairman via the media?

I mean I have to assume that when Conte came he knew that the squad needed strengthening, there is this "squad assessment" that everybody raises but I'm fairly sure he would only have signed on the dotted line with certain assurances regarding a transfer policy in place.

You don't need to do an in depth assessment to realise we are short in certain areas.

So the fact that he is now using the media as other Spurs manager have in the past to claim he needs signings means (for me at least) that he doesn't feel he is going to get what he promised.

They've had weeks to get this sorted and we've left it to the last sodding week once again.

If we don't back this man he will fuck off, he is a winner and he won't stand for broken promises when he has his pick of clubs.

At which point we are fucked.

This next week is huge, I hope they give him exactly what they promised him be that 4 players or whatever and don't come up short.

What does Paratici actually do. We have not got rid of any of our bad attitude players or our dead wood in this window and we have not signed anyone. If we cannot sign any players because there is no cash what is the point of employing him other than someone Levy can throw under the bus.

That's exactly the point of employing him. Levy still assigns a tiny transfer budget only now there is someone else who can be blamed for spending it on bad players.

6month Wijnaldum loan helps us a bit, more than Ndombele, Lo Celso or Dele do anyway... .. I do not know what Draxler offers a team nowadays, reserve judgement.

I find it mad how so many people swallow down the “ITK” shit.

It’s very rarely correct. Even Ornstein, who used to be pretty reliable posted that we were an hour away from signing Dybala a couple of seasons ago.

Then you get the basement dwelling, Dorito fingered virgin cunts like Hercules making shit up and citing his “sources” (his cum-covered action men and Batman figurines) and posting it as if it’s gospel.

Does my head in how many people buy into it.

Whatever will be will be. And knowing Levy. It will be shit.

4 new players seems a stretch but i reckon he wants 3. Right wing back, central midfield (if he's sacked off LoCelso, Alli and Ndombele this is obvious) and a forward as he's already talked about a lack of options there. As ever its about the standard of player. Traore, Kessie/McKennie would probably keep everyone happy but the forward who knows, really cant see much happening on that one.

I'd take both of them. One is a proven winner at the highest level and the other is a technical midfielder, although I wouldn't have especially high hopes for him adapting well to the PL. They would be a solid upgrade on what we have now and on short term deals that would be enough. It's clear that major spending on players fundamental to the rebuild can only happen in the summer (as is the case with every club).

I get the impression he wants a few in now but accepts we cant get his 4 first team targets.

I think he will wait until the end of the summer window before deciding whether or not Levy reneged on his promises.

That said, he is clearly still asking for bodies to be brought in now even if they are not the 'perfect opportunity'.

I think for now he will accept like for like, i.e. another Hojbjerg-level player just to give us some rotation option. If Gio is binned we have nothing outside of Winks, PEH and Skipp.
In the summer he will want the first XI upgrades.

If we sign Adama and move on Ndombele, Alli and Lo Celso then we are a lot worse off.

Move those 3 on yes, no issue with that. But you need to bring in at least another 2 to replace them.

Why? They offer absolutely nothing now. We don't have Ropey League or League Cups to rotate the squad and they're no where near PL quality players anymore.

Not keen on Draxler at all. If we were looking for that sort of stop gap, Coutinho would have been better.

Haven't really seen much of Wijnaldum recently.
Like, he's a very talented player, but there's definitely a question over his ambition, drive etc. Nice wage, Paris lifestyle, no real desire to leave PSG and get his career back on track the last few years. He'd offer more ability with the ball than anybody we have in the midfield three of a 3-5-2... but it's a risky move and I'd have doubts about him.

Wijnaldum.. is not the player he was.. he's still probably good enough to be better than what we have in midfield, but I don't see him playing midfield in a 3-4-3.
