I read a report some weeks ago (when this transfer was first mooted) that said we can forego the sell-on fee on this deal and apply it later, which we were considering. Not sure how that would work with Sporting acquiring the contract but, hey, I’m no contracts lawyer.
To be fair, I don't know if you moan about Dele... I've seen others doing it... just speaking in general and it happened to be in a reply to you. Sorry about that... I'm not claiming Dele has been in flying form. Nor am I saying that I'd be against a loan deal. But I'm not happy at losing a once great Spurs player for good. There have been too many false dawns for him to realistically actually rehab his career here without leaving.
If he does re-find his form I would not say no to a reunion in a few years.
Agreed and (hopefully) that's the thinking behind the scenes. I know some keep insisting that January isn't harder than the summer but that's BS. Depending on whether these loans with options manage to stick, we've cleared room/wage bill to hit the ground running in June.
Considering we don't have Europe to juggle it's probably a thin-squad-risk we can take now if it means getting players we really want in the summer rather than desperate opportunity buys.
