You're not making an excuse for him but you've just made an excuse for him, what? :D

What does a 'tight remit' even mean?

I'm saying FP was shit, but the reality is he never had full control which for example, I bet he is now getting at Fiorentina.

The tight remit means Levy always got involved in deals, and he'd say no too xpensive, or we can't afford the agent fees or the wages, so our SD's were always working down a list until we got an affordable option in Levy's eyes.

This is all common knowledge on how we operated under Levy for 25 years,

So whilst FP signed a lot of deadwood, the result of our shit squad building has been due to Levy and the penny pinching culture he's set for decades. Buy cheap buy thrice has been the motto for many years.

Don't think they are because Chatgtp would do a far better job than they're doing.
Here's what the AI says... I think its smarter than them

Here’s the honest situation: Tottenham don’t just need “one or two signings”—they need a mini rebuild in key areas. Based on recent reports and how the squad is performing, there are a few clear priorities and some realistic targets already being linked.

🔥 What Spurs actually need first

Recent reporting suggests Spurs are:

  • Struggling for goals and creativity
  • Lacking depth at full-back and center-back
  • Potentially needing a goalkeeper upgrade/replacement
  • Still trying to build around younger, high-upside players
So the targets reflect that.

🎯 Realistic transfer targets (by position)

⚡ Winger / Forward (BIG priority)

  • Serge Gnabry (Bayern Munich)
    • Spurs have already made contact for him
    • Proven goals + experience = immediate upgrade
  • Luka Stojković (Dinamo Zagreb)
    • Young, high-upside attacking option
👉 Reality: They need at least one proven scorer, not just prospects.

🎨 Creative midfielder

  • Alex Scott (Bournemouth)
    • Seen as a smart long-term creative signing
👉 Spurs still lack a consistent chance creator behind the forwards.

🛡️ Defense (full-back + CB depth)

  • Andrei Rațiu (Rayo Vallecano)
    • Attacking right-back option with a reasonable release clause
  • Andy Robertson (Liverpool, likely free agent)
    • Reportedly in talks to join Spurs if conditions are met
👉 Full-back is a major weakness—this is where they could improve fastest.

🧤 Goalkeeper (sneaky need)

  • James Trafford (Manchester City)
    • Spurs are considering him as a long-term option
👉 Not urgent unless there’s an outgoing, but it’s being explored.

🧠 Smart “under-the-radar” ideas (not just rumors)

If Spurs recruit well, they should focus on:

  • A young elite winger (not just aging stars)
  • A ball-progressing midfielder
  • A dominant center-back (they still lack a true leader there)

💡 What they should prioritize (in order)

  1. Starting-quality winger/forward
  2. Creative midfielder
  3. Full-back upgrade (both sides ideally)
  4. Center-back depth
  5. Goalkeeper (only if someone leaves)

⚖️ Big picture

Tottenham’s issue isn’t just talent—it’s balance and identity. The best strategy would be:

  • 1–2 proven players (like Gnabry / Robertson)
  • 2–3 high-upside younger signings

I'll also just add though, on top of that, our SDs have done shit jobs too.

Even buying from the Championship, we've missed out on the likes of Eze, Wharton and many other quality players, yet spent biggish money on the likes of Odobert, Rodon etc

The ones we do sign from the lower leagues turn out to be duds, and the ones we decide not to go on to be Internationals for England.

We've just been utter shit for far too long.

When was the last time we signed a player who went on to become elite? Son over a decade ago. It's shocking.

Mate you don't need full control to profile for the right players for the club, that's the point.

When I say profile I mean recognise the weaknesses of the squad and fill the holes and have a strategy.

For example we were after Luiz Diaz from Porto before he went to Liverpool meaning the club were after a LW, we didn't get him and then moved onto a RW (Kulusevski) in the same window??, we then didn't even look for one in the Summer and then ended up signing Danjuma a year later on loan, how does any of that make any sense, absolutely no joined up thinking or strategy behind it.

This is the kind of thing I'm talking about, that doesn't take money nor does he need to be some sort of lead, it's just basic squad planning, surely if you are targeting an area in the squad and you don't get your first choice then you have a backup? This is the reality of how Paratici built this squad.

Someone gets paid 500 k a year for doing that . I’m pretty sure he reads these posts.

At the very least he owes you a drink . And a large and expensive one at that .

I've changed my mind.

I said him and the Gooner will prob stay until our fate is sealed but there's absolutely no reason to keep them now.

We're not getting another new manager before the end of the season. I don't want them anywhere near decisions that affect us going forward.

Get rid now. Show everyone that those responsible will pay the price for where they have us.
I said the same what is the point of these two being around. Fuck might improve things if these two were binned now.

I have to hold man hands up and say I was totally wrong about Lookman and it's nothing to do with the buyers remorse on Gallagher. I always thought Lookman was overrated but he is clearly very good. And to think we could have had him instead of Gallagher. Makes me sick but not suprised. Every decision this board make is guaranteed to be the wrong decision.
It was a no brainer , pl experience, in decent form and cheap would have been less than Gallagher. Just imagine having him on the left. Defences would be scared shitless but we have Richi and tel.

As I've said for years. Surely it can't be hard to find technical players in Europe who are good solid pros, with good engines who would be suited to the league. Spain and Eastern Europe used to produce them by the bucket load, I bet they are still there. Suspect there are some throughout the academy system too in England. Olusesi looked more competent on the ball and able to pass it than most of them stinking out the shirt most weeks. I bet we have another couple in the club who could contribute but dont get a chance because we didnt spend £30 million on them.
Said that all along.

He was signing players way before Gallager, his first signing was Dragusin and that was for Ange who prioritises possession football, the guy cannot profile to save his life.

Paratici though is getting away with it massively, 75% of the squad is filled with his picks and that's not to mention the ones we ended up selling Emerson, Gil, Gollini etc...
Gil what a complete shambles we paid £20M plus lamela only to loan him back to same club. Not sure if we got any money in the end.

May be Frank didn’t want passers but runners.
Most of these guys came in pre-Frank and Kudus is one of the higher ones in the list.

It's clearly been a long term approach - targeting proper physical athletes - which tbf is important in the PL. Problem is we've not balanced that with the top class technical players and passers every top team needs.

I guess Maddison is a exception and its unlucky he's been out but its been missing in CM for ages, which is where you need it most.

Lange probably wanted to get one over on his old club Villa. They wanted him so he thought we should gazump them. Wouldn’t be surprised. Bet Villa are fucking delighted they lost out on him

It was for optics IMO, Villa stole a march and we didn't want to look bad since we missed out on Eze to Woolwich...purely to make us look lkke a big club, irony is the move in itself is most probably gonna send us down.

Yeah well in that sense we’ve lacked joined up thinking on the football side for ages. Way before Paratici. I’m absolutely convinced it all leads back to the way Levy ran the club. We would have to walk away from top targets or lose out on them as we wouldn’t pay the money. All our deals were opportunistic, so it wasn’t about filling problem positions in the squad, it was what was the best deal.

That’s why we’d be linked with say a LW all summer, and then we’d sign a right back. Because a good deal came up.

Levy had his fingers all over the football side for 25 years. I refuse to believe the sporting directors were that clueless they wouldn’t have a clear plan on filling problem positions, I just think they had their hands tied behind their back. Remember when we wanted Skriniar and ended up signing Rodon for cheap instead. Classic Levy.

But yes the profiling has been shit under Lange and Paratici. We’ve signed far too many non technical players. It’s why when we watch teams like Brighton and Bournemouth they pop the ball around so comfortably and our players look clueless. They sign better technical players.

How can a PL team have a bunch of CMs and none can pass. I guess Xavi was supposed to be one but he’s been so poor.

Same with our wide players. Johnson, Odobert, Kudus etc all shit passers.

Let’s be honest the whole thing is a mess.

Paritici never had a clear plan, most of his transfers were punts, even in his first window he managed to save it by signing Kulu and Bentancur late on in the window because an opportunity came up as opposed to having an actual plan.

The only players you could say he planned for were the wing backs Udogie, Perisic and Porro because they would fit a Conte system (although I'm pretty sure Porro was a Base link) Spence is another one but Conte himself came out and said he didn't even want him, shambles.

Go and have a look at the rest of his signings, it was all him, nothing to suggest that he had his hands tied behind his back, just a load of random transfers and punts.
