Manager Jose Mourinho

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I think people need to realise the position we were in when Mourinho joined. We were 10th-ish in the table and that was as a result of our poor squad; it wasn't due to bad management. Let's be honest, aside from Kane, Son, and Loris, our team didn't exactly look enviable.

It isn't going to be magically fixed in one summer window, despite doing some good business. I think people have raised their expectations too high based solely on us being, unexpectedly, at the top of the table in a very tight season.

The tactics have improved some players that people wanted gone. Alderweireld, Aurier, and Dier were all considered finished or plain rubbish, but you cannot deny that Mourinho raised their game, albeit, somewhat temporarily. It will be difficult to maintain that level with such a defence. Doherty needs more time.

We still have to play some average midfielders in Sissoko and Winks. We have some pretty good players in Ndombele and Lo Celso, but even they leave a lot to be desired. Then our right-wing is non-existent; we have too many players that can dribble but do nothing else.

I think people's expectations have gone overboard for the squad we actually have.

Some people need to get a grip.

Two unfortunate results against arguably the best team in the world right now, last year's champions league winners and this year's PL winners, at a ground which is a fortress and accumalated the second highest points ever in PL history last year. And err, Leicester 😂 who to be fair look like they are going for another title run and are a dangerous side this year.

Imagine talking about sacking the manager after these 2 defeats. No one likes losing. What's worse is that had bergwin scored that goal we wouldn't even be having this conversation right now.

All this talk of fancy football. Sorry, but this is Tottenham hotspur. We haven't won anything in decades. Where is this fancy football? Because iv never seen it. Its a myth. If it wasn't, where are the trophies?

People need to relax and just get behind the manager and the club and stop complaining about the fucking style of football. For me, I'm excited that mourinho is manager. He has brought a bit of life and excitement back into the dressing room and at the club, and anyone with a bit of fairness can see what he is trying to do with regards to the football.

We are never going to be able to compete with the huge clubs that go out spending 200+ million every season. However Mourinho can grind us out results if we are going to be serious.

Please, this talk of sacking the manager after losing to 2 title contenders is fucking embarrassing. This won't be the last time we lose this season. Neither will it be for the likes of Leicester and Liverpool. Its going to be a mad and long season. But let's not behave like deluded manc fans and abandon the new ethos after 2 unlucky results.
Oh look who has disagreed 🤔

We are way too reliant on Kane & Son and other teams are figuring us out.

And we’re way too reliant on those two because we have adopted a very defensive counterattacking style. Sometimes we have to start games on our front foot.

I assume Mourinho has chosen this style because of our frailties with our CBs but as the season goes on, more teams will figure out how to cut out the passes that feed Son & Kane.

Mourinho has to somehow change things.

We got figured out by Chelsea.

We were lucky that we had Woolwich following that game who are a mess and don't really seem to scout their opponents.

Palace, Liverpool and Leicester knew exactly what to do against us. And we had no true response to it.

Palace and Liverpool were even games, decided by individual mistakes, odd considering the teams figured us out apparently.

Palace literally sat back and dominated us on the counter. Whilst sticking a man on Kane. Leicester done the exact same today.

Liverpool didn't need to because we gave them all the ball.

Unless you're telling me Kane has been the exact same in our last 5 games than he was prior.

He's been fucking gash. And that's echoed our performance.

But no, no. We haven't been found out. Just lost more games this week than we had in the previous 5 months and got 1 point from 3 games. Our worst return from a one week period in 10m month.

And if Lloris doesn't spill the ball we take 3 points from that game.

And if Kane didn't head off the line against Burnley, we probably lose and our fans melt sooner.

Our play was never going to be sustainable. We all said it. We were defending relatively well but playing poor football, that allowed teams into games. But got through on an elite strike force.

It was down to opponents to find out how to limit said strike force, allowing them to worry less and increase their chance of winning.

And its looked like teams have smartened up.

And had more than enough opportunities to put the game to bed.

Yep.

What's that supposed to mean lol. I was one of the most vocal when Poch got sacked. I thought it was a mistake and a knee jerk reaction. I also thought Mourinho would be a disaster even though I was willing to get behind him. Since then he has surprised me. He is evolving himself, the results have been decent, and there is a new mentality at the club.

The media seems to be absolutely obsessed with spurs and Mourinho. And criticising every aspect of our club. Which to me means we're doing all the right things

Palace was even, that says a lot about us when taking into account that they’re like midtable. Liverpool was not even and deluded fans like you have a massive problem to start with if you think we were 50/50 in that game.
Mate they scored from a massive deflection and a 90th minute set piece, it sure as hell wasn't a comfortable win for them. The xG was about even, with most big chances going our way. I guess stats are also deluded?

Liverpool dominated us in the 1st half as we sat back and we were marginally better, but still 2nd best when forced to actually try to play.

Palace we were good when we attacked to start then dominated again when we sat back, then good for a short period again when we had to start to play after their goal.

So yes teams have figured us out when we sit back and pray like Jose wants us to. Only when we are forced to get out of Jose's preferred playing style have we shown any ability to be dangerous to teams, otherwise like today we are super easy to deal with.

If you look at your responses you had a disagree......who is igula who disagrees with fecking everything.....today is Sunday he’d probably disagree with that!!! I wasn’t disagreeing with you quite the contrary in fact having a go at Mourinho after two ropey games and getting their Y-fronts in a twist is now getting boring.

Kane, son and PEH were all below usual standard today and bale still doesn't look up to speed or know his role in the team. That was a heavy run of games. Hopefully we can tonk Stoke and then go into our more "favourable" run of games on the back of a win and a few days rest. Momentum through those Christmas games is vital if we want to stay in the mix, they are all winnable. I hope

Oh lmao. To be honest I haven't been on here in recent times so I'm not in the loop. Apologises.

The original 433 we was playing when we thrashed Southampton, united and went 3-0 up vs west ham was working. Why we've changed it to 4231 and 442 I don't know. We need to get back to ndombele a bit deeper turning people and springing attacks. Right now we seem unable to consistently get out of those deep situations under pressure like we was when we was using ndombele correctly and he was in form. We need to go back to that. I have no problem doing what we did vs city but there's a time and a place for it.
Mourinho overcorrected after West Ham. I don't mean so against City, Chelsea, Woolwich. I mean against Palace, Leicester, Burnley, Brighton, West Brom.

The problem with Mourinho's approach is that it works really well against the top teams in the one-off big matches and works poorly against everyone else.

Maybe this means we will win the League Cup and FA Cup with a favorable draw. That would be great. But in Europa it could haunt us and it will basically doom us in the league.
