No way he wants to replace Dier. He loves his "toughness", loves his physicality, does care that he can't pass the ball, in fact likely see it as a positive because he is wasting time with possession and instead just boots it as far as he can. When he came to the club he said Dier was the only guy that played the way Jose wanted.

Dier is a Jose favorite, he would get 10 more Diers if he could.

GLC was healthy enough to play but rarely was able to start and almost always was brought on to replace Ndombele rather than play with him as we needed.

I can't read about Dier's "physicality" without thinking about him rolling around on the floor like an upturned turtle vs Chelsea

This is fan fiction.

You’ve taken legitimate criticisms of Jose, how he has us set up and how he has frozen our certain players, and now invented a narrative in your head where he’s responsible for Dier’s contract.

He hasn’t been offered an improvement in that area so he’s working with what he has.

It is definitely a myth but what a guy like Jose will point to.

I remember Firmino absolutely doing whatever he wanted will Dier was useless trying to muscle him out of the way. He got lucky that he pushed Firmino's arm into the ball so the goal got called back but the damage had been done at that point and it was clear how little Dier's "physicality" actually is useful.

Its not fan fiction he said it in the documentary, he repeatedly started Dier as the 1st choice CB.

I didn't say he was responsible for it I said Dier is a guy who he loves so he would have told Levy to go ahead and sign the contract. He wants Dier here, that is a fact. He wanted Levy to sign Dier to a contract that is a fact.

He doesn't want an improvement on Dier because Dier is the guy he wants here and wanted when at United. He has said it. There's no need for fiction when we can go with what Jose has said.

If that’s the case, where is his replacement for Dele?

He’s made it clear he’s happy for him to leave. By your logic, which suggests Jose, unlike Poch, is now completely in charge, he should be gone.

and which of those players is comparable to Mbappe?

FYI most top managers expects their wing players to track overlapping FBs so that their FBs are not left in 2 v 1 situation, but feel free to keep talking nonsense just to push your agenda.

Where have I said he is completely in charge? I am saying that he is happy to have Dier, that Dier wasn't forced on him and that he likely encouraged Levy to sign Dier to a new contract.

As for the Dele replacement I'm not sure why Jose would need a Dele replacement. He doesn't like that style of player and doesn't want him in the line-up. He is fine with Dele leaving because he doesn't want creative attacking players in his team that risk making a mistake to try and create goals.

It was a hypothetical, why do we need to have an exact match for Mbappe when we have seen Jose's approach to attacking football.

There is a difference in what Jose has Bergwijn doing and what most top managers do.

There is no difference - if the opponent has the ball, you want your attackers tracking back to help defend and recover the ball.

The problem we have is that we struggle to hold on to the ball long enough.

There is a difference you just don't want to see it, or admit it, because that would mean you would have to criticize your boy Jose.

If you think that Salah, Mane, Sterling, Mahrez are playing so defensive so that they can't get involved in the attack like Jose has Bergwijn doing then you aren't watching the top teams play.

He wasn’t ‘forced on him’ to the extent that he was told there were no funds available to sign a first choice replacement. Hence us taking the usual punt on a cheap back up alternative - Rodon.

You’ve got such a hate boner for Jose you’re making him responsible for everything. So you agreed with me yesterday that ideally we need two new CBs (ideally one of which is not Rodon) but you’ve invented some scenario where Jose specifically asked for Dier and Dier alone to be his main CB. As if without him, Levy would have been all over the market splurging millions.

I am not making Jose responsible for everything I am saying he wanted Dier. That is far from making him responsible for everything.

I am not making anything up about Jose wanting Dier either, he said it. Jose said he wanted him when he was at United and that when he came here Dier was the only Spur that played the way he wanted. There is nothing invented about that.

And yes I think we need two new CB's not sure what that has to do with Jose saying he wanted Dier before he came here and that once he was here that Dier played the game the way he wanted.
