Manager Jose Mourinho

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Don’t blame him to be honest. Ever since we moved into this fucking stadium our soul has been totally ripped out. No identity. Bland as fuck. Boring football. Players who play for their paycheck, not the badge.

Yes, Mourinho contributed heavily to that by promoting negative football but he didn’t have the squad he wanted. Nor did Conte. Just a makeshift squad full of rejects and Levy-sanctioned “signings for the future”.

At least our music venue/NFL stadium, boxing arena etc looks nice. Shame no one wants to put their fucking name on it otherwise we might have been able to buy someone better than Clement “Barcelona reject” Lenglet to play CB. Good job Levy. Good businessman my fat arse.

We didn’t form a deep connection with you either, so two way street there, Hosaaay.

Couldn’t wait to see the back of him. He’d completely lost the changing room. The idea that he was going to suddenly beef us up to beat City in that cup final was laughable. All he succeeded in doing was making us bottom of the league in terms of fitness.

Both those two managers have spent more money than any other managers in our entire history.

Both of these managers had played the most joyless of football I've witnessed in decades, at least AVB won more games than them, that's how shit they were. They ripped the soul out of the Club, do either even have one?

Ffs he's 6th with Roma and would be 7th if Juventus hadn't had points deducted. He's relying yet again on a cup run.

Yeah he's still good for the odd big game where the park the bus and take your chances method can work but I don't look back with regret at getting rid of Jose and nor should any of our fans.

He's just teasing us with his 'no feeling for Tottenham' quotes....

He'll be back in the Summer and win us the Domestic Cup Double, you mark my words!
:mourpointlaugh::mourhandlaugh:

I thought I read somewhere that the main problem at Spurs was his assistant Sacramento? He didn't get on with the Spurs players, went to Roma with Jose and the same thing was happening there so Jose dumped him.

Not a defender of Jose and Conte but simply spending money nowadays does not correlate to better/world class players.

Yeh, it's almost like they need to be coached in a way that keeps them motivated and invigorated too.
I am not expecting an immediate title charge but I want to see instant improvement over the replacement. For eg, take Richarlison over Bergwijn. Hope he can turn it around but that 60 mil is absolutely not justified right now. Keeping aside Conte's tactics, Iam looking at poor touches, poor passing, non existent physicality. In short we got peanuts for 60 mil and Everton have unwittingly duped us.

But ofc History will remember it as Conte spending 60 mil rather than Everton fleecing us

Meh, I get the premise because there are many clubs we can look at like Everton who have spent shitloads but are close to relegation. But the reality is still true that those Clubs that spend the most and more actually pay the highest wages are the teams with the greatest success.

I chucked the money thing in when mentioning these 2 because there are folk who actually say he wasn’t “backed”. It kind of shuts down that avenue of defense.

Yes, the overall strategy of buying the right profile player for the right position for the specific way you want to play is by far the better approach than splashing vast sums of money.

Yep. He worked with him at Lille before we poached him.

I remember at the time, people lauding Sacramento. Saying he was highly rated and could end up being the next Mourinho moving from assistant to eventual manager elsewhere etc.

Strange one.
I found it beyond parody how anyone could make these assessments on someone they've never heard of, and have zero knowledge of his work.

Is it because he was a young fresh-faced fella? If he was a fat, old, ugly bastard would people have said the same?

I did quite like his story, how he got started and forced a career for himself when in Wales and I can't deny what he's achieved (working as Jose's Assistant and now Assistant Coach at PSG) is impressive from those origins and he's still only 34. But knowing this still doesn't determine how good he is, I think the only people who can objectively have an understanding of this are those in the game.

Jose and Conte have both essentially said the same things. The squad is the problem, and they continually make the same mistakes. "Individual errors" always being cited.

Both men basically said the squad isn't good enough, the board won't replace them, and the players are not coachable because they continue to make the same errors.

On the recent VFTL podcast, there was even a mention of a perception out there in the world that the players are too powerful at Spurs. I don't know if this is the leadership committee or whatever, but the hosts were left wondering if that wasn't affecting Spurs' difficulty finding a manager two years running. Does the manager feel he won't totally be in charge because the players have the board's ear?

I don't think it's really a matter of any of our "leadership" players being bad or domineering human beings.

It's just that the financialized and anti-sporting nature of the ENIC project, compounded by Levy's increasingly deluded and quixotic refusal to come to terms with how he personally murdered the Poch miracle, has left us constantly forgiving and even rewarding failure in a group of players who have been allowed to get comfortable here in a way it's never good for a competitive athlete to be.

The loser culture in that dressing room is going to be very hard, and expensive to fumigate.
