We could make 0 signings and keep this manager, we still wouldn't go down.

Why?

None of the teams that come up get anywhere near Premier League teams, for the last two seasons the 3 promoted teams have gone straight back down again.

Even if we enter a scenario of being rock bottom after 2 months then they'll just sack him and offer another manager a massive pay packet to come in and firefight.

Last time we were facing a legit threat of relegation 2008/09 ENIC magically found £50m from behind their sofa and went out and bought Palacios, Keane and Defoe in january, they'll ensure it won't happen because relegation is terrible for their business plan - This club has been designed to be setup to take advantage of Premier League exposure - if ENIC take us down that fucks up their entire M.O and totally contradicts the methods of the way they have been running this club.
It’s a risk that no promoted side has a good season, eventually one will get lucky with results and good signings

The fact is that we could never be as bad as we are this season

A culmination of Ange not lasting the season if it happens again which is a pretty big reason we are where we are and the fact that it's beyond difficult to have a similar injury crisis that we had this season as well, you can probably put that back on Ange as well.

This board aren't stupid, they've spent all these years readying this football club to capitalise of the Premier League branding, if we're in the Champo the amount of sponsors and events it will lose will be absolutely monumental.

Damn !

Ricky cooking finally
Full throttle.

Didn't see that coming.

If people have got twitter accounts they should go and give him an attaboy for going there, as he's usually a bit of a pussy.

He's usually very, very careful not to upset the apple cart too much.

Him coming out on sky like that and going full tilt should be a massive alarm bell to Baldcunt.

His precious multi-event stadium going toxic is now the next stop down this dark road.

And he can bin any sadistic, twisted notion he may have about keeping that fat wallaby past an EF loss.

I honestly don’t think people have realised the magnitude of that shocking statement by Levy. They focus on the first bit… but it’s the last bit which is what is most wrong.

Levy makes a big deal about ā€œall profit going back into the clubā€ to excuse his management of the club. However that statement makes it VERY clear that he sees the income streams as completely separate.

BeyoncĆ©, F1, music gigs, etc have all been sold to fans as ā€œprofit to make this football club great againā€. Which is how it should work - raise commercial revenues to build up the football team. Whereas in fact he makes it VERY clear here, in that statement, that he doesn’t see it that way.

He feels the football side should be self-sustaining on its own (not ā€œthe clubā€ but the football team) and that he’s done the team (and fans) a favour by letting the commercial revenues ā€œprop upā€ the football side temporarily instead of using that cash for estate growth (which he’d clearly prefer). He’s basically saying we should be thankful that he’s lent the football side some cash from the commercial side because they have underperformed. So admitting that the plan for all the commercial money ISN’T to put it back into the FOOTBALL side, in normal circumstances.

Absolutely shocking statement and the magnitude of which seems to have been lost on most with the headline grabbing ā€œwe can’t spend what we don’t haveā€ statement.

It’s an admission that he’s used fan’s money (through deceit and lies) to build himself/ENIC an events stadium for himself and not the fans or the football club, and that in real terms nothing actually changes on the football side. We’re operating the same as we did prior Tottenham the stadium build, and the net spend figures look healthy but are a simple consequence of football inflation that would have happened anyway.

And the net spend figures aren’t even that healthy anyway. Postecoglou has had Ā£46m per window net spent on average and across the 4 windows the wage bill has reduced by more than Ā£20m/pa (Ā£100m+ across a 5yr contract).

Hardly ā€œgoing for itā€, or ā€œgame-changingā€, is it?!

Just something I came across on Twitter (X), and thought it was a pretty solid clarification of the situation.

As long as we stay in the PL, Levy does not need to win anything, he does not even need CL football, he just needs 10 x NFL game contracts, Beyonce concerts, Go Karting and stadium tours. Until fans stop attending games as well as not spending money in the stadium he will get away with it. Stop lining his pockets or stop moaning about his ownership.

It only takes 1 promoted team to be better than usual. I do agree if we were in a relegation scrap - Levy would crap himself and make funds available to keep us in the division
