If he survives the first season then he's a great appointment for them. This upcoming season I think they'll do well to get 4th. LVG's teams are notoriously slow starters under his regime while he roots out the players that can adapt and respond to his methods.

I struggle to imagine he can actually do worse than the 'Chosen One'
I don't think he will, but I don't think they'll be better than any of the current top 4 or us (if we get our act together) while he's getting his team / style in place. This season the Utd board said that they didn't think non-CL qualification was a disaster... but two seasons in a row? I think LVG will do better than Moyes and play better football, but I think expectations will be higher too.
