Match Luton (A) Saturday 7th October - 12:30

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Given injuries to our forwards seem to be piling up - Johnson, Solomon , Perisic and Gil may not yet be back plus Son was taken off after 60 mins v Liverpool as a precaution, time to look at the u21's attacking options.

I'd like to see all 3 of the players below in the first team party - possibly only room for 2 on bench so 3rd one simply part of travelling party :

Jamie Donley - formerly a striker now a creative AM. Presses like a demon and not yet aged 19.
Jude Soonsup-Bell - Was one of England's top prospects 18 months ago, before injury and a slow recovery. Now getting back to his best as RW/CF, not yet aged 20 (played one game for Chelsea first team in 2021)
Yago Santiago - originally a CM, now looking a very good LW with pace, ability and passing. Aged 20

After 8 games in u21's this season :
Donley - 7 goals and 6 assists (13 goal involvements)
Soonsup-Bell - 6 goals and 3 assists (9 goal involvements)
Santiago - 6 goals and 3 assists (9 goal involvements)

So all are on good form - for those who do not follow Spurs youth our u21's top their league with 8 wins from 8 and have scored 29 goals this season.

Donley is the best alternate to Maddison we have, whilst both the Soonsup- Bell and Santiago are good on the wings.

I'd assume Veliz is also in the squad - he seems to be very much only a poacher/striker which seems to be Ange preferred CF style.

This was Evening Standard 2 days ago :

Ivan Perisic will not return for some time whereas Bryan Gil and Giovani Lo Celso should be back in the coming weeks. There were more immediate positives on the weekend as James Maddison and Heung-min Son were fit to play after doubts.

So Gil on the bench might be stretching things

I bet everyone, us and rivals saw our opening 10 games and assumed we'd never get 7 points from United, Arse and Pool. Probably none tbh given our horrendous form last season.
Here we are, after 7 games, unbeaten with 3 "winnable" fixtures next.

I have always believed a good start is the reason most teams go on to win the title. City are often the exception but confidence, getting used to winning, not having to deal with the fall out of losses is what gets teams going.

Woolwich may have got over the line last season if they realised they were in a title race and threw the Ropey league early.
To me it’s more like a race for 2nd. Unless Haaland and KDB are out for significant periods then City win the title 9 times out of 10. If they need to win 17 of their last 20 to win the title then they will win 18 - they are just relentless.

Woolwich last season just ploughed on with the momentum, what I think did for them was not altering their tactics towards the end. They had got in this Rythm of blasting through the first 25 mins of games often getting a lead and then trying to manage the rest of the game out - but teams were wise to it by the end and started cautiously against them before going full pelt in the second half, Arteta just couldn’t change it up and that combined with the pressure of City relentlessly winning saw them bottle it.

Our squad is far too light for a proper title push, one injury at CB or to Maddison and we have terrible cover.

We just need to ride the momentum as hard as we can in Jan and hope it’s enough to be in a near infallible position in terms of CL qualification - and then strengthen, buying a CB being a must

I can't say I know a lot abut these players, but based on the hype and the highlights, I'm very keen to see what they can do.

I'm not at all squeamish about throwing them in at the deep end.

City win the title 9 times out of 10.

Jude Soonsup-Bell?

Sounds like we are recruiting fictional characters…
