God that’s so long ago, was there that night and never saw the footage of Jol on the bench like that. Fuck sake, he deserved so much better than that treatment from the board (Newcastle stuff aside)
I was just reminiscing re the game against WBA in the 80s, a League Cup s/f, 1st leg at the Hawthorns. There was a rail strike on, and there were hundreds of coaches. Got in the ground just as the whistle blew to start the game. What I didn't realise at the time, Martin, with hair, was playing for The Baggies that night.
Finding our coach after the game was like finding a needle in a haystack - no mobiles in those days!
Happy days, even if it was a boring 0-0 game.
I loved Martin as our manager, and he still loves us.

Jol brought pride back to Spurs IMO, he took us from a club that was going nowhere fast for about a decade back into European football, and would have brought us to the Champions League if not for a PL conspiracy that made sure Woolwich got there instead despite them having their worst season for years at that point.
(And yes I fully believe that's what it was, it was way too convenient that almost our entire squad came down with illness right before a crucial game and a postponement is also conveniently denied).
