Match Match Thread: S.S. Lazio - Europa League

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

As people have already said, that line up will sooner rather than later be pretty close to our strongest when Lloris replaces Brad and Caulker comes in for Gallas. I'm excited.

I only saw the second half on TV but Vertonghen and Caulker looked like they had been playing together for years. Dembele and Sandro seem to get each other too. We'll do some damage this season, I can only dream of what might be possible in the next few years if AVB is given a fair chance and we keep the squad together.

Oh and the Lazio fans just sounded noisy on the TV coverage, you couldn't make out any abuse aimed at Defoe, but those who were at the match are in a better position to judge that. It's not as if Lazio had a 100% white team, do their black players think that monkey chants are OK as long as they are directed at opponents? I know it would take balls to criticise their own fans, but I would say something in their position, I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I didn't. Then again I'd probably avoid playing for Italian, Spanish and Russian teams in the first place.

But it'll take a lot more than some bent officials and a bunch of racist fans to bring me down today, this might be the most optimistic I have ever felt after a 0-0.

I was in Park Lane block 33 and thought the atmosphere was OK. I've lost my voice, there was lots of singing where I was and on the shelf. Not constant, but you wouldn't really expect it to be. I'm not surprised if you were above the Lazio lot you wouldn't hear us. I didn't make out their monkey chanting but then their chanting in general just sounded like rumbling noise to me, except when they reciprocated the Paul Gascoigne songs.

Was at the game, just to say, atmosphere was very poor
Can I ask where you were sat? I though it was pretty good tonight. Plenty of singing and not much moaning. Yeah it didn't have the adrenalin coursing, rowsing feel of a classic European night, but it felt like the majority of people there were proper fans out for a good night of supporting spurs.

Of course. Park Lane, block 32. Not much moaning, agreed, and no booing which is always good! I wouldn't have said 'plenty of singing' though? Difficult to compete with Lazio obviously but I didn't think we gave it a good enough go...

Azza on Twitter is a refreshing read!

Obviously it's disappointing to draw with the fascist team because of a dubiously disallowed goal. But at least the team will have been able to escape in the confusion.

My only beef with the way we played: Vertonghen didn't take at least one free kick.

On the contrary Bale from the right corner will give us at least a couple goals this season, looked damn good.

The only reason Lazio fans continue to act the way they do is because the fines are so miniscule. Ban them from away trips. Simple.

Did we have any free kicks in a shooting position in the second half? I can't remember any, not that my point will count for much when I have finished contradicting myself.

I guess they want Jan on the end of free kicks crossed into the box rather than taking them. But Bale is nearly as good in the air, so we wouldn't be weakened that much by Vertonghen taking the odd one. I'll shut up now.

How cruel was that last night? Two clear cut goals disallowed

But love the way the team is shaping up.Caulker got his chance too and played really well as expected.

I expected much better from Lazio than just parking the bus. They were very lucky to get away with this match.

And their fans!Disgusting!Fascist cunts. They were even making monkey noises at Defoe. :disdain:

I had the same thought; that Bale could be a bit more dangerous on the receiving end of a whipped in ball than whipping it in himself*. Would've liked to see an earlier chance from close distance taken by Jan. But really what I was saying is that overall we played very well against a team who will challenge for top 3 in Italy and I couldn't fault the players for much.

*Aside from corners from the right side, as I thought most of his today were very very good.

I am still angry. Where are those Lazio fans who signed in here now? Do you still pretend that you are not a Nazi-Club? The Uefa has to do something. I hope their black players will stand up and refuse to play in front of such racist scum.

Our boys played well, two goals were stolen. Lloris made a good job.

Bale is starting to think he can take free kicks like Ronaldo does just because he scored one decent free kick for Wales the other week. Vertonghen also nailed one the other week so they need to mix it up a bit!

I thought it was a half decent performance all round and hopefully that will set us up well for Sunday. Lloris looked composed and confident and Caulker looked decent bar one or two passes that went astray. Roll on Sunday!!!

This. Was beginning to think I was the only one who was pleased with the way the team was coming together.

The movement off the ball was good, what's lacking is that the awareness and passing isn't fluid enough so it stutters a bit allowing the opposite team to read our plays. Some of the short distance interplay was some of the best I've seen from us in recent history.

For the time being I'm happy were still bedding in and not losing games. I can see progress
