Player Mathys Tel

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

That’s the point init - Nobody can predict what sort of player Tel might turn into.

So how about instead of spending 55M on uncertainty - we spend a bit more for a proven player like Mbeumo or Eze?
I fear you are in for a very disappointing transfer window, best thing to do is turn off the internet, ignore everything football for the summer, turn internet back on on Saturday 16 August 2025 and see what's happened, one thing I can predict for sure is that the chairman of THFC will still be D Levy but I have no idea who the manager will be or if Tel will still be on the squad list.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion but I don't see how anybody can predict what sort of player Tel will turn into .
In 2012 Chelsea signed de Bruyne at 20 yrs old , he played a whole three matches for Chelsea, was loaned out to W Bremen and eventually sold to Wolfsburg in 2014 , Man C stepped in for him in 2015 and look what he has achieved since.
We have to trust the likes of Lange, Paratici and other coaches at Spurs to make the right desicion.
But in the meantime before City signed him, KDB tore up the German league. He’s was basically the best player in that country. Tel isn’t showing anything like that level or progression yet. He’s a lot younger but there isn’t anything other than blind optimism that suggests he’s potentially something special.

I’m a Spurs supporter so obviously a glutton for punishment …

TBF, I think the point was that Tel is basically at the same stage KDB was in when Chelsea bought, wasted, and disposed of him.

Depending on the price, I'd be happy to buy Tel. May benefit from a loan where he gets to play constantly and experience the freedom to develop like KDB did.

It’s not comparable. Kdb protested to mourinho that he should be getting game time … that he believed he was better than those mourinho kept selecting

JM disagreed and KDB was allowed to leave

The rest is history… KDB proved himself right and went on to be one of the best premier league midfielders to play the game

Tel on the other hand is getting picked and isn’t looking like one of the best premier league players of any position now or ever

On every level this not a good comparison example

I think part of the issue is that our squad is full of might be amazing players in 3 years time but we don't know.

We need more players who are ready now.

Exactly, if Son was still world class and Brennan was playing like prime Bale, I’d be fine with Tel coming. But our current wing options are limp and we need to add a proven player in that area not another youngster. We have Odobert, Moore and Yang already for the LW, do we need yet another teenager for that position?

Simple way of putting it...

Imagine we had signed him in January and we had a chance to get £40m (or whatever the perm fee is) for him this summer - are you taking it or turning it down?

If he's okay with it, another season loan would be helpful for him and us. We really don't have enough information about him to make a decision, and he's still very young. He's shown flashes of creativity, but it hasn't been a large enough sample size to determine consistency in quality.

No way he's worth 50 million. Remember, Solanke was 60 million, and he's a PL proven striker (a more expensive position generally).
