Manager Mauricio Pochettino

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

"Spurs famously failed to sign a single player in the summer of 2018 and followed that with a similarly fruitless January, but ironically it’s when Pochettino did get money to spend in 2019 when things started to go wrong."

Personally think it would be dumb for Poch to go there (assuming he has other options). He has to win trophies at his next stop and the risk of that not happening at Newcastle is pretty large.
Why does he "have to win trophies"? He is already recognised as one of the World's best coaches, only FIFA fanboy's looking to put him down due to twitter rivalries (he was wanted by all of their fans the moment he became available).

It would be a massive opportunity to build something at Newcastle, arguably bigger than at Spurs given that Tottenham is perceived as a "big" club already, all be it not in the elite.

If Newcastle gets the backing of the Saudi's in the same way Man City have from the United Arab Emirates then they have the chance to be even "better" than City. I base this mostly on the environment that exists at Newcastle over than that at Manchester. Newcastle is a 1 Club City, they have very low expectations, with previous "hero managers" whose records can easily be surpassed to launch him into God like territory.

His top targets Steve. Poch isn't as stupid as you make out. He wouldn't have mbappe as 1 of his top targets. You lot do love to bash poch. Poch was crap & a loser, he would do awful at Newcastle, we get it.
Why wouldn't he want Mbappe?
Same goes for Neymar, Kane, De Bruyne.

Are you saying that no manager would want these players, that they wouldn't be top targets for any manager?

Or are you saying that he'll have to settle for players within his budget, the same as any other manager.

By the way I love Poch and defended him to the hilt.

Top targets with those owners for that club. Realistic top signings poch could make for a club like spurs wouldn't have happened because our owners/levy wouldnt pay what it takes. For example a player we can get but are owners won't pay the going rate for them.
The same situation with the Saudi owners, he would be able to sign them as they would back them & pay the going rate.

I don't know what you are on about, the manager of kettering town would want neymar? That's great to know steve. I have explained it as best I can. So if you still don't get it then lets just leave it at that.
Glad you still a fan of poch. Didn't seem like it with your jibes with john.

So he'll be given a budget and can only sign a player/s within that budget. Not his top targets.

I'm not sure about these Saudi owners, if they are going to throw a shed load of money at the club (I'm talking billions, as City) why don't they buy the club outright?

I don't think (hope) they will be the golden chalice some people think.

Yeah you don't get what I mean. So I am going to give up.
They are miles away from even a top 4 spot. So I think success for them would be regular top 4 & a domestic cup. Which Geordies would be over the moon with. I don't think they will suddenly be bothering city & liverpool.

What level of player do you think will be realistic for them?

I know it depends on how much cash they throw at it. City, IIRC, took 2 or 3 years to get the top boys, once they had a bit of success.
