Terrible decision to play Son as LWB. He was an accident waiting to happen. My guess is he didn't want to drop him because of his form, had a space to fill if Davies was injured, put 2 and 2 together and got 5. I doubt we will ever see Son play there again. Stupid game to take a gamble in, it was obviously going to be tight with one mistake maybe proving crucial. What's more we could really have done with him coming off the bench to inject some new life into our attack.
Never mind, hopefully Poch learns a lesson, we sign a proper LWB, and Chelsea get distracted by the cup. In Poch I still trust
Davies had a knock

Trippier had a good game. However, he got beat pretty badly leading up to the corner which we conceded. Not saying the goal was his fault, but I'm not convinced he is an answer at left back.

To those cunting off Poch, fuck right off. This man is a class act. He's turned a bunch of promising youngsters into the most exciting team in England on a transfer budget comparible to Burnley or Palace. He's worked miracles and everything about him makes me proud to be Spurs. His selection or formation may have not paid off today but more often than not it does. And that's all you can hope for with any manager. Today's match was played in the most trying of circumstances and the whole team, including Son, and the manager, especially the manager, made me love my Spurs more than ever today. Bring on Wembley next season. A fitting stage for the country's best supporters and the world's best manager
Not gonna lie, this gave me a stiffy.

Can we avoid being naive and remember the relative options that we and Chelsea had coming off the bench this match?
They actually managed to compete while keeping Costa and Hazard on the bench, while we had Walker and... er... GK N'Koudou to come on as impact subs.

The depth of our playing staff just can't compete with the top 6 at the moment, and yet we somehow find ourselves currently in second place.

Poch is a god damned miracle worker, and no one-off FA Cup semi final should convince anyone otherwise.

Personally I think it was a huge gamble to play Son. It was obvious that Poch was trying to fit him in due to his form, rather than go with Davies, in the hope of out scoring Chelsea. Son's defensive inexperience in the game was a problem, as the penalty shows.

HOWEVER, Son otherwise put in a good shift, the first goal was Hugo's mistake (and he would've played come what may) and we were by far the better team for the majority of the game. Chelsea won the game against the run of play, and only because they have world class individuals in their side, players who can single handedly conjure up something from nothing (which is one of the reasons they are top of the league) and if you remove Son's one and only error it seems we would still have lost 3-2.

When the two best teams meet only one can win. This was always going to be our toughest game of the season. We gave a good performance and were the better team on the day. Unlike previous Semis, I don't think we can walk away with a great deal to moan about, and trying to blame Poch's tactics and Son is low blow stuff. I think our performance on the day was good enough that we can hold our heads up high and march on. This team will only improve and there was a massive, massive positive development yesterday that I have seen nobody mention yet. That is that we didn't seem frightened of Wembley anymore. There were no nerves after the first ten minutes or so and that bodes well for our season there away from home.

More positives than negatives all round I'd say.

If there is one lesson that Poch could learn from yesterday defeat, it's to play your players in their best position, even if it means benching one of your in-form player. We could have brought on Son as an impact sub instead of N'Koudou.

Think Poch was a bit stuck here, with no Rose & Davies injuried (but on the bench) would you risk Davies against Moses and then they bring on Willam (remember Poch didn't know Costa & Hazard were subs)
play a flat 4 with Van on the left & dier as centre half ?
So I think Poch did his best, remember Son is hit & miss in most of his games,
we don't have match changers on our bench, someone wasted £70M last summer on Janssen, Sissoko, GKN, same as most of the Bale money was wasted

So, first of, calling for Poch's head or calling him a shit manager is retarded. Really. Some people have forgotten, how shit we have been before his arrival, for years.

But, it must be said, that the Son experiment was a complete disaster yesterday. He had absolutely no impact on the game. I don't want to brag, I have followed Son for very long, he has fantastic attributes as a forward, he is somebody who always gives 100%, but he has absolutely no defensive qualities. He isn't even one of those, who tracks back and puts the oppositon under pressure and that's okay, because he offers so much going forward. And even if in my eyes it wasn't a penalty, I could understand the ref giving it, because it was a rash challenge (comparable with Vidal's red card during the week). Brainless tackle.

Son would never have tracked back if Poch had not given him the instructions to do so. Start in a 4-2-3-1, with Verts as a LB. He may not have the pace, but he closes down intelligently. That's the first thing he should have done after seeing that Chelsea is starting Pedro and not Hazard. I'm sorry and I don't want to say it, but it was completely mindless to stay with the three at the back after we have failed several years to win at that fucking Wembley stadium. I'm not talking about when conceded the fourth, which was nothing more than a lucky shot, but when we were still in the game after coming back from 0-1 and 1-2. To not change anything at that point, cost us our head. If Son doesn't start as a LWB, I highly doubt he would tackle Moses in the box. We take a 1-1 into the break and we might, just might would have cracked them.

It was also clear that Chelsea were again restraining themselves from playing football from the 30th minute on. But Son stayed as a LWB, it has been a huge mistake to start him there. It was the first problem I thought about when seeing the starting line-up, it still bothers me and will personally probably bother me for years. He just didn't have any impact on the game, he didn't have a clear position on the field and he didn't get into any 1v1 against Moses. I'm not criticising Son here, I'm just criticising Poch here. Son must never be played in that position again. Anybody, but him.

I also don't believe in Davies having a knock. Probably resting him for the league, as well as Kyle Walker. Poch should have gone 100% in this one to get to the final, and I could live with dropping points against Palace. But now we have a tired Dembele and a tired Eric Dier for Wednesday. He is in dreamland if he thought that we can win the league now, it's out of our hands anyway and we need to look over our shoulders and not at the top. Let's atleast stay unbeaten at home for the season and get the second place finish. I hope it will be told tomorrow, that we need to get the league title out of our fucking heads. It's over. It has to be the first thing said when the players get out on the pitch in the morning. Forget finishing first, concentrate on finishing second. Play like we did before Wembley - the Son LWB idea has to be scrapped, teared apart and burned.

We must go from game to game now. "Title deciding" weekends? There aren't none. We have still two very tough games at home, we are leaving our home for a new stadium. Stay unbeaten there and don't give in. There is nothing to chase for us anymore, focus on remaining second. Win at White Hart Lane and keep the clean sheet in away games. I really don't want to watch another 5-1 Newcastle fuckery against Hull by the end of this season.

I love to watch the high press at the Lane, but Poch needs to develop a new plan for the coming years. We will play in Wembley next season and while we still successfully can play the high press there against smaller teams, Liverpool or City might kill us there if Verts and Toby are on such a high line.

As great as poch has been for club on and off the pitch, his tactics can be insane at times.I mean this is basic stuff. We started three at the back with son as a wing back. Son barely does any defensive work, why on earth would he put such a heavy responsibility on him?
I won't deny that chelsea scored some fine goals, but how much of that was down to us shooting ourselves in the foot?
No Poch bashing here, just some constructive criticism. Maybe we should scout a tactician too this summer because we are lacking in that department.

We actually started 4231 but couldn't get into the game for the first 10 minutes - then we changed to 343
