So what about Lo Celso, Bergwijn, Sanchez, Aurier, Sess, and Foyth?

After Poch was named manager we signed a lot of shit footballers. It's hard to remember signing a good one that he did sign. In fact, looking back at the list - he never did sign a good one.

Far as I am aware Ndombele and Lo Celso were the only ones he really pushed for after we failed to agree on his first choice ones De Jong and Bruno Fernandes. The rest I assume were Hitchin or club signings.

You talk about "data"; yet that's completely rhetorical (and against the grain of our perceived lack of data-led scouting at the time).... I'd be willing to bet like most fans Poch & Hitchens were just seduced by his performance against City in the CL (like most fans were).

Don't you find all this a bit tedious anyway........ On another day you'll probably just complain that Ndombele was a "Levy punt" and that Poch didn't even want him.

...perhaps because DL always had final say...being made manager only allowed him a spot on the xfer committe, 1 in 5 voices followed by DL ultimately deciding what could be done finanacially (read: picking who he wanted to begin with)...which you've been shown/told a thousand times.

And as if we didn't sign shit footballers beforehand. In fact, every single one that 'came good' during Poch's years was seen as shit by a conservative 40% of the supporters at the time Poch got here...maybe even more!

Fair points, but as has also been pointed out, it was Poch who made the power play to not have another DOF/HOR guy like Mitchell brought in over his head to recruit.

And his say within that 5 was definitely going to be more than 1/5th influence in terms of player. It’s not like Levy scouted the players, he just influenced the value factor (heavily no doubt) and it’s not like McDermott would have much influence over first team signings or that Hitchin’s input was going to be like Edwards at Liverpool or Mitchell previously.

IMO it was a dumb move by Poch to want it, a fucking dumb move by Levy to go along with it and it resulted in some absolute garbage recruitment which Poch is not blameless in.

Prior to this, whatever the weaknesses in the structure, the recruitment had been relatively successful (relative to the other teams and situation at the time). Players who although flawed or divided opinion sometimes (including me) but who enabled us and Poch to compete within the circumstances (ie no ManC, Newc, Woolwich on the downward, Liverpool pre Klopp etc etc) - Lloris, Vert, Alderweireld, Walker, Dembele, Wanyama, Eriksen, Dier, Son. Ali, Lamela, Rose, Trippier….with the academy providing Kane.

Levy was still in the process for those signings. (As he was for the signing of Bale, Modric) but Virtually no players of that calibre were signed once the structure was dissolved in the following “committee” phase.

We will never be able to divi up blame for the recruitment clusterfuck we became precisely amongst the committee, but Poch is in that equation.
