That overloaded with friendly games is a bit of bollocks too btw as Santos got invited all the time by the big European teams and he scored a shitload of goals in all these games too. These werent all friendly games against andorra or tinpot teams like Westham

I've seen quite a lot of goals from that era, will see if i can find a more complete version of it in my reading material :)

One of the most important games was a victory against Benfica, at that time the reigning EC1 champions and they hammered them, i think he scored a hattrick or even 4 goals then.

Again though, these are friendlies.

He officially only scored 757 goals in 812 games. Which is still a respectable amount though, even if he was playing against amateurs. There wasn't even a professional league in Brazil until the 70s. Bare in mind he had played for Santos from the 50s onwards. Even Romario has scored more official goals than Pele and played in stronger leagues.

By the way in comparison if you include all the goals scored by Lionel Messi in friendlies etc. he would be on:

1104 goals
1173 games
.

Which for someone who isn't predominantly a striker is absolutely incredible.

Lionel Messi has scored 50+ goals for club & country in eight of the last nine years.

He really seems on it this season. Iniesta leaving, taking over the captaincy, 20 goals and 11 assists this season and counting. He's really stepped it up a notch(if that were possible) from the last couple of seasons.

Best player ever is probably a two way fight. Messi v Best.

Could Messi do what he does on heavy muddy pitches, getting hacked at by proper footballing hardmen.

More importantly, could Messi handle the drink and women the way Best did.

Messi - Great.
George - Best.

Meh, not as good as Skipps
