Nah he was on, I've seen the "Lines" on Irish tv.

Salisu has been outstanding for Southampton, although he very nearly gave away a penalty.

I like him a lot. Would love for us to make a move for him whilst his value is still relatively low rather than when he gains full recognition and suddenly he's valued at 80 mill and the elite clubs are all over him. Saw him live vs Leeds and he was defensively excellent and confident bringing the ball out, he's rough around the edges and makes mistakes (as he did vs us) but the raw potential is all there.

That said, even now Southampton might want a huge fee with the way PL clubs operate these days.

Those lines are not parallel with the 18 yard line

all comes down to perspective. In the AC Milan footage, the camera was focused on the halfway line, and not parallel to the actual incident. The angle you see the action from changes whether the player looks offside or not.

That angle also affects the TV-produced offside line. The computer generation takes into account the position of the camera when the line is drawn. Because of that, the resulting line sometimes doesn't look quite right.

....

's graphics are provided by sports graphics tool Piero. The system works by first creating a 3D model of the football pitch based on information from the video feed. Pitch markings, players... it's all in there.

When the broadcaster wants to draw an offside line, an operator will find the exact frame when the ball is kicked and then click on the last defender. The computer system then draws a line automatically from that player, taking into account the camera perspective and all the other information it has picked up from the 3D model to make sure the line it draws is parallel to the goal line.

Yes they're still going to sign players but read what I said earlier, they're not going to be spending as much as they have recently in the next few years without selling, that's how FFP works.
I mean we'll see. You shouldn't take that graph to mean that they are limited to a 5M net spend forever or over the next year or whatever. That's a snapshot of a moment in time, and Villa's revenue is on the up and will be significantly more so if they can secure European football.

But anyway, Jesus Christ, we need to gazump Betancur if he's available. That's the class on the ball in our midfield we're looking for.

That the Old Trafford VAR room line.

If you draw a parallel line to the 18 yard box, the rules that most teams have to operate off, he’s offside.

They’ve always made their own rules, particularly at Old Trafford.
The camera angle is on the piss, so there is never a view that will show it parallel unless it's at 90 deg (also there's an optical illusion with the variance of angel off 90 degrees shown by the right-hand edge of the photo, that just shows you how far off it is).

Take the line of the change in grass direction/cut that divides the penalty spot, it's dead parallel to that line. (those lines are parallel all the way up the pitch to each other)
