Worth a quick recall of recent windows under Paricicti :

Summer 2021 (for Nuno)
Romero, Royal, Gil, Sarr, Gollini (loan) (5 players)

January 2021
Bentancur, Kulusevski (2 players)

Summer 2022
Richarlison, Bissouma, Perisic, Spence, Forster, Lenglet (loan) Udogie (loaned out) (7 players)

January 2023
Porro, Danjuma (2 players)

A nice blend of experienced players for the 'here and now' and ones mainly to develop for the future..... and I think all improve the squad, recognising that Royal was bought as a RB for a back 4 etc.

Some of the summer 2022 players still to really reproduce the form they have showed before, but that's not unusual - Son had a rocky first season before becoming a consistent 20+ scorer/assist maker for about 5 seasons. And nobody brings in players who are 100% successful, but Paraciti's failure rate is reassuringly low

As always, another window or two should show continued squad development

Hope Barnsley won't mind us leaving Adam Hayton on our u21 list!

You should actually watch the interview.

Jose never said Fenerbahce... that was added by BS journalist who wrote it. He said he had facetime with him and wanted him at spurs but spurs didn't pay up.

:contetellmemore:

So the suggestion is Spurs wouldn't pay 3 mil (fee Fenerbache paid for him) to give Levys schoolboy crush of a manager a player he wanted? not buying that tbh

Where we have strengthened is :

1. For the first time since Walker left we have 2 marauding full backs in Doherty and Reguilon - in Spurs hey day of 4 or 5 years ago most other teams could not live with Rose and Walker. Hopefully same will be true with our new pairing.

Since Walker left we have tended to have a lopsided attack with everything going up the RHS. With attacks now able to be mounted on both sides again it wil be harder to defend against....and more chances created for Spurs forwards.....which to some extent compensates for less creativity in central midfield,

2. Central midfield in more solid with Hojbjerg (high numbers of interceptions and tackles) : just need his partnership with Lo Celso or Ndombele or Winks develop.

3 A forward line of Bale, Kane, Son with Dele supporting is possibly the best attack in PL.

4 So far of our 'established' players we may end up only selling/loaning out KWP, Rose, Foyth, Gedson and Clarke, none of whom have been major players for us this season, whilst adding 4 first teamers and keeping the players no longer considered 'first team' to be their back ups.

Consequently the strength on depth is far greater than for years.

And we have kept all the players we wanted to keep.

5 Still three weeks of the transfer window to go, so whilst the above only anticipates one player (a striker) coming in, there's still opportunities to strengthen at centre back or central midfield........ .....although frankly I'd be very surprised if we got another 3 players in after Bale and Regiulon

and it would be interesting to see who we chose to move on to create space (eg do we sell Cazzaniga to rely on a 22 year old inexperienced ex academy GK - where we have a space for a Club trained player) or sell the llikes of Aurier or Lamela (in addition to the likes of Foyth) ?

At the risk of sounding like a scratched record I still maintain bringing in Hart has weakened the goalkeeping options rather than strengthened them. It could turn out to be a very costly decision.
Please God I'm wrong about this.

If, and this is a big IF, Mourinho keeps using the same tactics he used at FC Porto ( i see tottenham as a FCPorto mirror in Europe mostly)

In the Premier League I think he will use this

Loris

Doherty, Alderweireld, Dier, Reguillon ( if he comes)

PEH , Lo Celso, Son

Bale (if he comes), Kane, Alli

being the tactic
1-4-1-2-2-1

Lo Celso and Son will have to bee the fighters in the middle both playing as number 8\10
-----------------------------------------------------------------

And when needed in the Europa League

Loris
Doherty, Alderweireld, Dier, Reguillon ( if he comes)
PEH Winks Alli Bale
Son Kane

Being the tactic

1-4-4-2 with Bale in the right, Alli in the left, and Son Kane in the midlle.

I dont think Sanchez is a player to be in the starting lineup , i´d rather see Foyth then Sanchez

Zero pace in our CHs, which does not bode well if we are going to have attacking FBs.

Best to plan for the most restrictive comp (in our case EL), unless Gedson and Gazza arehappy to be excluded.

If we bring in another CB, we would have 6 including CCV, so would be best for him to leave (either loan or transfer) for his career.
I mean Gazzaniga hasn't been included in any matchday squad so far this season. And Gedson played just an hour in the league cup match against Chelsea. So they already know they are excluded and getting on with it. I think there's a UEFA rule just for this year that states if we have too many positive Covid-19 cases, then we may play players who aren't registered for the competition, but are our players.

Yeah, agree that it'd be best for CCV to leave for his own sake. I guess we can afford to keep that last homegrown spot empty because our squad depth already looks impressive on paper.

How good does everyone think our squad based on u25 players is at present?

Austin, Whiteman, Tanganga, Sanchez, Malachi-Walcott, Carter-Vickers, Regulion, Sessegnon, Cirkin, Winks, Skipp, White, Devine, Hojbjerg, Gedson, Lo Celso, Ndombele, Dele, Bergwijn, Clarke, Vinícius, Parrott.

Not a bad looking list of 22. Youthful depth required in goal and right side/ central defence which probably explains our interest in Rodon for the right price long term.

Amazing how a few windows of investments can make a dead and limping team look so full of fresh ideas and verve. Very content with the long term focus whilst staying competitive in the here and now in all honesty, fair play to the board and management for doing so.

That’s what I thought but Alasdair gold had him as a non hg for EL the other week

Gold is a bit iffy on squad regulations.

Was claiming rules had changed so that Rodon would be HG (even though trained at Swansea who are affiliated to the Welsh FA - even though disciplinary things in PL governed by the FA) which is untrue
