Always a weird one. As a young defender why move to a team with two established centre backs? Centre backs don't get rotated.

Really he should have been choosing a team who needed a starting CB. There would've been options there and his agent should have guided him towards that. This scenario was very predictable, unless he was the second coming of Beckenbauer he wasn't going in to the XI.
 
Curiously; the current undertone to this thread seems to be that we shouldn't have strived to have a good back-up CB afterall.

I’d rather try him there. From the one game I saw him at CB he looked really comfortable on the ball and could dribble and play a pass. Surely against Burnley we should try him there at home where we should have more of the ball. Sure he’s not left footed but he looks technical enough, absolutely no point playing Emerson there at all.

you propose we play our new untried (in this league) 21 year old centre back in a position he's never played before instead of the player that's already proven his ability in the league this season and played LB before?

yeh man let's destroy his confidence even more for next season. VDV doesn't need a confidence booster ...he knows he's rated and valued by both coaching staff and fans.

our defence is conceding at near enough every opportunity...can it even get any worse ffs.

It's not just that, we know how our fullbacks play then end up as 10's in this setup, can anyone really see Dragusin play as a no10 or in the pockets? 😆

While you are at it, replace Gil and Porro too maybe? Just for shits and giggles. Cause can't get worse and all...

I mean if you do not understand how extremely immense is VDV recovery pace to center of our defense, then the previous line might look like a good move for you. He can't provide it nowhere near equally from LB position.

That’s the question to answer.

What was their longest break between playing 2 games of football that season? No idea!!

Did they have a load of injuries / suspensions / players jetting off to Africa / Asia to deal with too?? No.

No red cards all season.
No winter break.
FA cup finalists. So played each weekend that competition was on.
Played 3 games in the league cup too.

Bet they played nearly every week.
