Penalties really do get massive media attention, which makes me wonder if that's why they don't get those "wrong" as often.
I agree on the fact refs book our players in a blink, but it's even worse than that, they're giving soft, really soft, free kicks against us at every opportunity. It really destroys any momentum or opportunity. Ref watch on a Monday morning aren't looking at incidents like that. Refs can get away with influencing the eb and flow of a match without raising any major red flags.

100%

I was explaining this to a fan the other day. If you want to see a perfect example of such a game. Liverpool at home this season.

I think we're fucked. Thought we had a bit of hope when De Zerbi was appointed and even after Brighton but we dont create many chances at the best of times, we have no one that can do that now. More than anything though its the form of West Ham and Forest, they score goals, can keep clean sheets and just arent losing games. There is no one else getting dragged in so basically unless one of those 2 collapses completely then we're done.

Like I said previously, we seem to have the world on our shoulders with injuries, bad referees, and mental fragility. We also lack any players that can turn a match in our favour when the chips are down. Without Maddison, Xavi or Kulu, we need to grind them out through attrition. And we're not really defensively good enough to do that.

West Ham look like a team in good form, playing without fear, and determined to keep the gap between them and us. I fully expect them to get at least a draw at Brentford to keep the pressure on us.

Lange and Vinai have made a complete pig's ear of this season and should get pelters for it, but it feels like we're swimming against an incredibly strong current right now.

I think we're gonna have to beat one of Villa or Chelsea to stay up. We always do shit at the bridge but I've a funny feeling we can get a result. They have been pants and have an interim manager in charge.

Draws with Villa and Chelsea and wins against Leeds and Everton would leave West Ham needing 7 points - not a chance they do that imo.

I think the difficulty of West Ham’s next 3 games is being massively underplayed - I genuinely wouldn’t swap with them at this point

Not a chance we get 8 points from those matches either!
Unlikely agreed as we always lose to Chelsea - but 7 is def possible and that would require West Ham winning 2 or winning 1 and drawing 3.

I think going second could help us - them potentially losing or drawing with Brentford then gives us a huge incentive away to a Villa side that I suspect really do not want the fixture. Then ditto the following week.

If we’re not above them after the Leeds game then I will concede we are down - but imo we will be above them after that

I just want this nightmare season over and I can deal with the outcome. I need to stop getting my hopes up at the slightest chance that we might escape.
The point against Liverpool away, then getting stuffed by Forest.
Holding our own against Sunderland, then one of their players should have been sent off.
Xavi's stunner against Brighton, then a sickner of an equaliser 20 minutes later.
Getting our first win in 2026, but suffering another long-term injury to our only creative player, and WHU getting a last minute winner, when Everton should have got a penalty.
Too much for my heart and blood pressure to take.
Just stop it now.

Yesterday we were already planning our away games in the Championship.

If we as expected, have to win back to back home games
We haven’t done that since September/October 2024
I believe we have lost 26 home games in the last three seasons , with two more to play
Totally unacceptable

Really well observed. Agree. Nothing about this is enjoyable.

It's way too much and worst is that much of it is self-inflicted.

Sadly, I think the stress continues until the last day of the season.
