Player Richarlison

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Scoring a penalty is just as hard or harder than scoring tap ins from cut backs with no keeper to beat or just the keeper to beat from 6 yards so penalties do count.

Debatable given many in-play factors and the fact that putting yourself in the position to score is still part of the finishing process.

........Never the less, pens are guilt-edged opportunities (where the ST is expected to score!) that any goalscorer would welcome to boost their season's tally.

Converting penalty after penalty as the likes of Toney, Kane and Palmer do is a strength in itself. I would have no confidence whatsoever that Richarlison would convert 6 out of 6.

6/7 but still.....

It IS a skill... Not denying that; but if you're not granted the opportunity (or the pen decision to start with! Agggghhh Spurs!) then you're not going to net them.

I said at the start of the season I would've taken Toney over Richarlison. Problem we have now is that Richarlison deserves to start at least for pure work rate or spirit. He can be a striker against some teams but it is complicated. Right now I just wish we had signed Toney over the likes of Johnson instead. Richarlison gives us versatility in 2 attacking positions, I personally prefer him working on the left because he keeps our shape and pressing against bigger teams, and I don't care if it is starting or as a squad player.

Richarlison wouldn’t be taking pens for us- it’d be Maddison or the CAM ideally. Maybe if we get a stud winger with great tekkers they’d do that too, but certainly not Werner or Johnson.

Actually think they are about equal. Richys first time finishing (both in air and on ground) and pressing is genuinely world class. Give richy penalties and he finishes on roughly the same goals as toneys best ever season. Grass is always greener guys!

8 pens. I quite like Toney but I don’t think he’s miles ahead of Richy, not what we need imo. Rather go for Gyokeres
So would I but Toney would give us a presence and knows the league. He wouldn’t need to settle in . We don’t have that with Richy or Sonny. They are easy to play against especially when teams sit in and there’s no space for them because they can’t play in tight spaces. They can’t link the play with clever touches and both have a touch like a set of railings when a defender goes tight with them.
Sonny and Richy would be subs at best for me next season. Would they accept that ??

World class finishing and pressing🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Fucking kill me now. Richy is not a natural finisher and pressing is just a willingness to sprint and force someone to make a mistake or pass to an area where you’ll win it. One of the funniest posts I’ve read on hear for a while.

His finishing is nowhere near world class. Not saying Toney's is either but he's defintely a more natural goal-scorer than Richarlison. I thnk he would be an ugrade, but how much of an upgrade is open for debate.

Richarlison's strength is that he can do a bit of everything. But he's the master of nothing.

If you look at the stats on his first time finishing, you'll see that it actually is world class. He is massively over his xg for first time finishers, number 1 in the league in fact.

Look at Richy's xG for first time finishing and compare to goals scored.. Tifo did a piece on this earlier this season, Richy is actually number 1 in the league for outperforming his xG for first time finishers. He has the best goals vs touches ratio of anyone in the league also. That is world class. And regarding his pressing check out his heat maps.. they are off the charts in terms of his defensive output .. very very underrated player.
