Roberto Soldado

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I know the feeling. I desperately want the lad to come good , but constantly keep finding myself making excuses for him. Probably because of the prize tag, but also he's shown moments of class.

Hope it is just a confidence issue.
In his defense (again) he does create a lot. 5 assists already and could have more. I like him a lot tho. Seems like a solid lad. Hopefully he picks it up for us and ends with10-15 goals for us in the prem.

Last season at Valencia, Soldado had only 4 assists in the La Liga (albeit scored 20+ goals).

This season at Spurs, he has 4 or 5 assists already in the PL with half of the season to go.
My point is that he is at least trying to cover up the lack in goals in one way or another.

I'm not worried much about him right now. He's shown improvement already under TS, and has a good jig going on with Ade. So, hopefully both stay fit ... with good rotation here and there, by playing 1 at top sometimes.

Frustrating. When you watch him live you can tell he is clearly a very talented footballer. Reminds me of when rafa came and you could just see he had that extra bit of touch and swagger that the best players have.

Just needs to start taking the chances now he's getting them. 2 goal from open play in the league is not what you pay 24 million for

I thought Liverpool had overpaid on Suarez, nothing in the first 6 months made think I was wrong.

I know that Suarez is a different breed of striker but it is regardless, he found his feet, the pace of the game, and now is playing as well as any striker I have seen in 30 years of watching football.

Granted, Soldado doesn't look like being prolific but the evidence is there to prove he can score goals.

He knows where the goal is.

I think we paid a bit over the top mind you...

How much have we paid?

I saw one comment it was as little as £12m + add ons.

I dont know if thats true, but you can bet your mortgage it was something + Add ons. We all know how Levy deals.

I suspect the £28m that people like to beat him over the head with is somewhat misguided and untrue. If we EVER pay £28m it will be because he was totally worth it, IMO.

Its a cliche, but while he is in position to miss Im not so worried. We all know he can finish, IMO when he finds his scoring boots he will struggle to stop...

I really do love Soldado but he needs to start scoring from open play. Constantly missing chances is so frustrating. I do agree with everyone he is working hard and hopefully he'll come good.

Looking at soldado's goals for Valencia there is a common theme, Spanish league defences aren't as good as in the Epl and secondly he was getting a very good supply. Same goes for Lamela at Valencia, He was under totti's wing.Well literally because they played together ina 4-3-3 formation.

Soldado has had many big scoring chances but what I have noticed is that he is missing that yard of pace and sharpness .Ever since the Manu 2-2 draw, we have been playing with natural wingers and he has had a handfull of chances.Maybe this break will do him good or it simply might be the case he is no suited to the premier league.

Either way we cannot rely on him for goals, maybe he will come good towards the end of the season, maybe he will flop?. Can't take the risk now, levy has to go in for another striker.

I'd say he has more of the Berbatov about him... but without the sultry Eastern European good looks!

From what I'd read about him before arriving his sole purpose was a fox in the box but since playing with ade there's a lot more to his game. His vision great. Can make killer passes and that cross for ade reminding me of a tom Brady pass with 5 seconds left on the clock. It was a beautiful

I really like the interchangeable drifting back thing that he and Adebayor seem to have going on. Both feed on crosses as strikers but are actually pretty good providers too.

There have been a couple of times I just want him to start running and for someone to thread that damn ball through to him...but he doesn't run and the moment's gone.
