It wouldn't surprise me. It is not uncommon at all for managers and players to push for a player to return to action at a quicker pace than what the medical staff recommends. It is a conflict of interest between the players and managers chasing results, and the medical team thinking about the longterm well being of the player.I don't know if this is something he did at other clubs, but it seems Conte always picks the most optimistic return estimate.
He's said before that he wants to push the players/medical team to recover as quickly as possible. Doesn't seem to have worked well at Spurs.
Poch got some flack for this as well if memory serves me right. I think it was Ali Gold that reported on Poch and our doctors clinching regarding this a few times.
It's why there's been a push for the medical staff at games to not belong to clubs, but be normal medical staff that aren't beholden to the club through wages.
