Player Rodrigo Bentancur

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I don't know if this is something he did at other clubs, but it seems Conte always picks the most optimistic return estimate.

He's said before that he wants to push the players/medical team to recover as quickly as possible. Doesn't seem to have worked well at Spurs.
It wouldn't surprise me. It is not uncommon at all for managers and players to push for a player to return to action at a quicker pace than what the medical staff recommends. It is a conflict of interest between the players and managers chasing results, and the medical team thinking about the longterm well being of the player.

Poch got some flack for this as well if memory serves me right. I think it was Ali Gold that reported on Poch and our doctors clinching regarding this a few times.

It's why there's been a push for the medical staff at games to not belong to clubs, but be normal medical staff that aren't beholden to the club through wages.

Most other clubs complain about their medical teams in a similar way, it's another one that we think is unique to spurs but really isn't. Go on a Liverpool, westham, Chelsea etc. board all have similar complaints

Transparency is the key. Bentancur finished up weeks ago and now has a scan, what’s happened in the meantime. They could easily clear this up by having better comms. Right now it looks like he came back, they thought he was fine then later on realised he wasn’t and sent him for a scan thus wasting time. This is probably not the case but like all things in life if you want trust you need some degree of transparency.
