Player Rodrigo Bentancur

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I'm torn. Throwing two bottles filled with ice into a crowd of people is genuinely fucked up behaviour. I don't care if it's plastic, if it hits you in the wrong place it it can cause serious damage and one of them bloody up someone's face. What if it had hit a child? Ask yourself how you'd react if it had been a Woolwich player, Martinelli or Partey or someone. We'd all be calling them the scum of the Earth.

On the other hand he's clearly been in a difficult place the past 18 months what with his injuries and loss of form, and the other night it was clear he'd lost his head partly cause he'd thought he'd picked up another really bad injury. So I'm willing to give him some leeway, but the club needs to get him some mental help sharpish and we can't be dealing with any more of this batshit behaviour from one of our more senior players going forward. He's had his three strikes, basically.

So it's TWO bottles now?

FILLED with ice?

..............Is this just rumour mill stuff or reported facts?

Silly racist twat.

And people worry about signing players with iffy attitudes (Tony eg).

But hey, when it’s one of ours….cut him some slack…

Toney doesn’t play for us yet. He has no history with us, he’s made zero contributions to the club and has no relationship with our team.

Bentancur has all of that and does have strong relationships and time put into building those relationships with the players and fans. That buys you some grace when you are part of something.

If you want to make the comparison then ask if people would want to sign Bentancur for the first time if he’d said what he said about Sonny and obviously in that situation he’d had no relationship with Sonny and every single one us would say no.

Is it possible your biggest gripe with Bentancur is you don’t rate him as a player?

By all accounts he's looking back to his best. Will be a great asset to us next season if true.

Couldn't give two fucks about his off the field antics.
I'm not going to go so far as to say I don't give a fuck about his off the field antics, but I legitimately don't think that either of his incidents this summer, even compounded, warrant running him out of the club.

The bottle throwing was stupid, done in the heat of the moment when we don't know what he saw or heard from where it was thrown.

The Sonny thing, I stand by my belief it was just a poor attempt at a stereotype joke. If the interviewer had asked something about numbers and he had replied with something along the lines of "I suck at maths, I ask my boy Sonny if I need numbers run accurately." would the outrage be the same?

I don't know why Blakey has to invent stuff about players he does not like.

Excited to see what is next in the chronicles of Bentancur. Wouldn't have been surprised if he was involved in the Trump shooting

Totally agree regarding the sonny thing. No malice behind it, just poor taste and naive of him, especially considering what the media are like these days, this sort of stuff is their bread and butter to stoke tensions.

Anyway...apology made, lesson learned, time to move on.

Anything resembling racust attitudes from any of our players should be treated with the firmest of options that are available, but let's not do more than that.

Until that day when racism no longer exists in society should we expect it not to be present in footballers.

That is incoherent if not ever excusable.
