I disagree. The guy made a silly joke. He can say that he is sorry if it offended people and on we move.

Appreciate you're just being pedantic but the FA is still the regulatory body in England meaning it handles disciplinary matters in the Prem.
If he received a 1-game ban, for example, we wouldn't be shaking our angry fists on here. We might be citing Enzo Fernández but otherwise...
Essentially I agree with you, it was a silly joke, but given how things are, silly jokes do have consequences.
My point was that this punishment - if it turns out to be 7 games - is ridiculous, given his lack of antecedents (not true in the case of Terry for example), his immediate and sincere remorse (not true in the case of Terry) and the complete lack of malice (not true in the case of Terry).
It stinks, I think we agree on that.

If its a seven game ban then it just simply says that the officials who look after "our" game are utterly corrupt. Has there been anything comparable with a comparable punishment? Not to my knowledge, therefore - bent, and a further nail if any more were needed in the coffin of "modern" football
