Player Rodrigo Bentancur

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Brighton did not press our CBs for most of the part of the game, but they clearly targeted Bentancur which lead to couple balls he lost. Think stuff like this already happened couple of times in other matches, mostly in last season (also when Biss played at 6). Easy way to counter our build up. We overcome it in first half by going long with Romero balls, mostly to Deki. But in 2nd half it went to nuts.

not a good enough ball player to be a 6. hangs onto it too long when he shouldnt. he didnt have a good game but he was clearly fading in the second half and needed to be changed far sooner than the 79th minute!!!

yea defo worth a try now aint it. hes probably a better ball player than biss and bentancur.

what will happen tho is youll see gray tried there in some ropey europa game with a load of fringe players. not giving a true reflection of how good he could be in the first team.
It is now mate.I honestly think he’ll hit the ground running, his long range passing is much better than Bentancur and bissouma ,he’s fearless he’s showed he’s not fazed in the matches he’s played.

Just put him in or else we’ll never know how good he is.

hed probably of watched that today and thought he could of made a difference today, especially once bentancur was clearly fading early in the second half. bissouma and sarr are more double CDM's. to play that lone CDM role you need someone whos very good technically and can cover all pass ranges, while also being able to move with the ball.

This would be the worst game to put Gray in. I'm presuming you meant as a sub?

A young, inexperienced player to get his first epl time at the 6 in a game where our whole team was overrun for 20 minutes? That sets back youngsters years sometimes in terms of confidence.

Yeah, he was rubbish.

Like I said, he's fine against the Brentford and the Uniteds and teams who are happy not to press him. But you put him against a team who want to take the ball of him and he hasn't got the ability.

I can understand Ange wanting to keep the same team that beat United but the underuse of Bissouma in the league recently has been poor judgement.

i get it, he's facing a lengthy league ban so he's getting all he can out of him before the enforced break . no chance at winning the league under ENIC anyway but there's a slim chance at Europa success so happy for the superior bissouma to play in that comp fully rested

I’ve said it before, he’s a good number 6 against teams that don’t press. Bissouma should have played this game and in all other games where teams press.

Also Bentancur and Bissouma are both inconsistent and probably only have 2 good consecutive games in them. Therefore I would rotate them both constantly.

Really poor performance from him yesterday, summed up by that pussy, non-tackle which led to the third goal.
It was clear to all, except the bloody manager, that he needed to be subbed and that we needed a bit more 'muscle' in the midfield.
