Even against shit teams that don't pressure us, he's been shit. Certainly not getting carried away, but it's a start. We know he's capable of it, it's just been buried.
that lubo who is on the spurs 5, pointed out it was bentancur who gave a shit ball away for the equaliser. just watched it back on spursplay, and wow! was he right! not only is it a shit pass to tel, its the wrong decision, he has ground he can break into which will create a 2 on 1 on fernandes, instead he takes the coward option of trying to just put tel in with a 1 on 1. really poor midfield play! the mushrooms who rate him wont understand how bad it is! its shit like that, that swings games, and it did, 2 points dropped because of that.

he shouldnt even be passing it then, he should be making ground himself and isolating bruno in a 2 on one! he has the space to do that if he drives forward with the ball. really fucking poor!
The point is you don't give the ball away. Yes ideally that's what you'd want him to do but even if he clipped it over the top into space for Tel to chase we would of seen the game out

He’s doing this every game, it’s just not always costing a goal, and used to do at Juve too - their fans were always moaning about him costing them goals and games.

can defo see why juventus were happy to offload for relatively cheap.
He’s a tweener, but between an 8 and a 6. He was great as a 6 against lower level Copenhagen, but not quite good enough as a pure 8 or 6 against top opposition. I like the guy personally but no doubt there is a seeming drop-off of the ineffable “what we need” when he gets played next to Palhinha.
I can understand Frank wanting to extend him though as he can reasonably say “do I really trust Spurs to give me funds to buy anyone better?”, and he would be right not to believe that.
Yeah - I'm guessing Frank just wants a few experienced options in midfield and, knowing we were 100% losing Bissouma in the summer, felt that having Bentancur in the squad was important. He's got his obvious limitations but he can cover a couple positions and do a reasonable job.
Problem is, if we buy Palhinha (which seems likely) we've got a real bottleneck in that 8 position as I think it's Bentancur, Gray, Sarr AND Bergvall's best position. Sarr and Bergvall can play further forward but I don't think they excel there beyond occasionally playing Sarr as a hard pressing, box-crashing 10 against really good teams.
Assuming (please god) we buy a passing midfielder in one of he next 2 windows, I don't know how we're gonna balance midfield minutes - it doesn't add up and one or two players will need to be sold or loaned.
