Last season QFs.

Oxford played man city and Colchester went to man united

season before Burton Albion reached the Semis.

And before that Bristol city got to the semis beating United in the QF.

We support an elite team and over the past few seasons have seen the European giants at home.

Fans of lower league clubs deserve their chance to dream of Wembley too and matches against the top premier league teams.
They have the FA cup, the League Cup is not a god given right, created late on and always had low attendance.
The initial point was award a place in Europe, we already have an influx of European slots. If the concern is wellbeing of small sides well then the league cup is a bandage on an open heart.

After this revelation, yes it should be abolished.. I don’t think they could have devalued it any more if they tried, unless they called it the Tenna Ladies cup..

Who the fuck want to be the current Papa John trophy holders?

Money before tradition once again.

Would you not want to win "The Emirates - FA Cup" because of the sponsors?

The "League Cup" can have any sponsorship name it wants but search for "League Cup Winners" and you still get a list from 1961 to 2020 regardless of who put up the cash.

Whilst no doubt the "League Cup" is the bottom tier cup competition, a little club drawing a giant club still represents not only potential giant-killing glory and a chance to visit a mega stadium, but also a massive cash boost. Take that away so the 'elite' can hoard a still larger percentage of the available cash for themselves and you risk damaging the whole structure. The 'O's lost out on 100k by forfeiting their game against us, imagine deliberately taking that money away from dozens of small clubs by scrapping the cup.

If the elite want to play under 23's and reserves that's their call, but don't deny the small clubs their day in the sun ... they've got enough problems already.

I'd like to revitalize it by adding the Scottish teams
Scared Baby GIF

Reckon it should remain but exclude the 7 European participants which guarantees a new winnner each year and guarantees a new English(or Welsh) European participant each year.

The scheduling seems to be the issue whereas if you’re not in Europa/CL then you’ve got the mid-week time free!

To the people who say a cup is a cup and lower league teams need the money, why stop at the FA Cup and League Cup? Why not add 4 or 5 more cups? More money for the lower leagues and we’re bound to win one of them.

Add to that that the guy that started the company, the actual papa John himself was removed from the board of his own company for a) referring to N******** on a shareholders call and b) complaining that Colin Kapaernick taking the knee was costing him money (they were apparently a major sponsor of the NFL)
