Omole was in the official squads for both EPL and UEFA last term as he was over age. Never made an appearance.
BLF and Lavinier both over age but retained.
Would love these guys to get a good loan. Lavinier IMO can be a decent pro and maybe better..

My guess is that Omole was being kept as a back up LCB, in case we ever needed back up to Davies. I think he will find a decent L1 club before going up the leagues or even start at Championship level or Scottish Premier level. I understand he was offered a new contract but turned it down, probably sensible if we are buying an LCB and keeping Davies plus we have bought Perisic and keeping Sessegnon thus blocking off rotes to his favoured positions of LCB and LB.

Lavinier can cover RWB/LWB and (possibly less comfortably) CB/DM. A loan seems the obvious way forward for him, but I'd like to see if he can get on the plane to South Korea and play a couple of games as RWB for Conte to assess him.

BLF moved from being CB to DM over the last year, I guess as there was too much competition at CB. A loan makes most sense for him as with White, John and Devine vying for CM positions, not sure where BLF has an advantage over any of them.

A bigger clear out of the 2nd year Academy lads than I had expected with only a few given pro contracts, and those included Sayers and Devine who were both recruited having proved themselves at other clubs, so not that many came through the academy.

I do wonder if this has at least been partly driven by Paratrici who was reported by journos of having said that too many of the Spurs academy lads were never going to make it, as they lacked the physical characteristics needed and were over coached. He is reported to have brought in more youth recruitment staff to change the ethos.

Regardless this is now the under 23, squad :

GK - Hayton, Maguire
CB - Muir, Walcott, Paskotsi, Sayers (LCB/LB)
RWB - Lavinier (now over 21)
LWB - Cesay (utility player - can play RM, CM and RWB as well)
CM - Lyons Foster (now over 21) , Craig, White, Bowden, John
AM - Mathurin, Santiago Alonso, Robson, Mundle, Devine
Striker - Etete, Parrott, Scarlett

A total of 22 players - but of these I'd expect a number to go out on loan (or possibly be involved with first team squad) including Lavinier, White, Bowden, John, Etete, Parrott, Devine and Scarlett (total 8 loanees - but maybe others too)

Which brings squad numbers able to play u21 football down to 14, although a couple more could be out on loan, so I do wonder if Paratici will suggest bringing in a few players from other clubs who are in the 17-21 age group. Obvious positions to fill would be wing backs and forwards (most of our existing squad in those positions may well be on loan).

Of next seasons Academy Year 2, I'd imagine Jamie Donley (striker) is the most likely to be involved in u21's

Estonia is not the strongest team, but it will be very good experience for Paskotsi to play against Argentina and similar level teams/players

What has been going on with Paskotsi?

He played pre-season under Nuno, has played fairly regularly for the full international Estonian team, but has almost disappeared from view at Spurs.

Has he been spotted training with the first team under Conte, like a lot of the other players in the development squad?

Good question which I don't fully understand the answer to. I have been told that he picked up a minor injury that didn't seem to go away, but I don't think that explains away almost the whole season.

I do think that Estonia are a poor side, so being picked for them is not a good mark for being a good player, so I think he may be slightly over-rated on the back of that.

However I'd be surprised if he wasn't involve in pre-season with Conte as I think Romero, Davies, Rodon and Sanchez will arrive back late in pre-season leaving Dier and Tanganga as the only CB's currently on our books (other young CB's who might be involved in pre-season are Walcott, Muir and Sayers whilst BLF and Lavinier can play there), if he's not involved I don't see him staying (although I think his contract runs to 2023)

Apparently he got Covid and he has been one of the few very unfortunate people that it has effected along time after "recovering".

Thanks for that. He's just played a full 90 minutes for Estonia, but in last couple of u23 matches at end of season he had a few minutes off the bench. I assume him playing a full 90 minutes for Estonia means he's now fully ok - any info to corroborate that statement ?

I have an adult nephew who had long covid (despite him regularly running so pretty fit etc) and it took him about 4/5/6 months to fully recover, so I know it can really affect some people

Hope this is true, I've felt physically we just don't have it in our academy & the over coaching is something I think all English players have which is a problem

Its certainly true that several journalists reported Paratici's comments, and link below suggests a significant overhaul is underway which should be to produce young players meeting Conte's needs and Paratici's expectations - he came with a reputation of having watched a lot of youth games in Italy so I assume is taking an active interest in Spurs youth.

Fabio Paratici's Spurs overhaul behind the scenes creates plenty of new jobs

Here is a link to the article. Sounds like he may have fully recovered before the Liverpool thrashing, so we were probably just cautiously easing him back in by not giving him too many minutes too quick and monitoring him, though that is just guess work.

Kevin Betsy was Woolwich u23 lead coach and his new assistant is Dan Micciche ( was Woolwich U18 head coach and professional development phase lead), so a big hole in their youth management to fill

Pescatore played and scored in an u16 competition 'The Vallley Cup' earlier this year - not sure if he was in the Spurs u15's and playing up a year or Spurs u16's (in which case he will join in next seasons Academy Year 1).
